I am by no means well versed on all the Tequilas on the market, but I know what I like and I enjoy the Tequila Reserva 1800 Reposado as a sipper, both straight up and over a single rock. You will especially enjoy this if your only experience has been with the Tequilas of your University days. This is a gateway to more premium brands. Enjoyable for the price!

I bought a bottle of 1800 becuase it was on sale for $15 at my local Jewel/Osco. I remember it from years ago (i'm in my 50's) when it was considered the best tequila. Well it was really disappointing this time...I do not think I would buy it again even at that price.

Rich smoky taste was overshadowed by a very bitter/sour taste and aftertaste.

I see that most or all of these previous reviews have taken place several years in the past. While I was reading these I was wondering if they were talking about the same tequila that I have been drinking recently. Perhaps quality control has changed and in recent years 1800 has improved dramatically. Just so you know a little about my drinking history, before this brand became one of my favorites, I was a dyed in the wool, Corralejo Reposado loyal consumer. If it wasn’t Corralejo, I didn’t drink it. When I drink tequilas, I’m not too interested in color, aroma or “presentation”. I am primarily interested in the taste. I don’t care if the color is like engine sludge or its aroma is like a country outhouse, I want a great taste. Start, body and finish. In the past I’ve tried several of the more popular tequilas including the king of advertising hype, Patron. A few tequilas that cost in excess of $100 per bottle. That was when I realized that cost did not equate with taste. In the end my latest personal opinion is that for my money, you can’t beat 1800 Reserve. The bottom line, in my humble opinion is that you can’t go wrong with 1800. If you are a novice, this is a great place to start. You will search long and hard to find a better tasting, smoother tequila. So if you’re looking for a great tasting tequila that is still easy on the pocket book, you can’t go wrong with 1800 Reserve.

I agree with the current ratings, however IMHO it's a bit too light in body and flavor for me to warrant paying over $17-$20. It's a very good tequila but I think the fancy bottle and label is why the price is $25.00+.

Earlier production may have been rougher, but the bottle of 1800 I opened last night is really quite excellent.

Well knit together by the time on wood. Nice floral and fruit notes as well as some very nicely smoothed agave tartness and a slight tasty hint of kick at the end.

Based on previous reviews I was very pleasantly surprised. I expected some rough stuff.

A sipper for sure and great in a margarita as well. Better then many tequilas at 2-3X the price. I am a fan of the silver as well, but now both 1800 bottlings are really the all around leader in the value, 100% Agave category. At least here in Boston you can sometimes find the 1.75 for $34.99.

Heck, it's even in a nice bottle.
