My husband and I have been trying different tequilas anejos in particular, for the past year or so. We've been through a lot of what you can find in the liquor stores and have a few favorites, Don Julio for every day, Avion for something different, and we've tried some others while out and especially like the El Tesoro Paradiso which we cannot find in a liquor store. Someone mentioned that Kirkland had a decent anejo so we figured, what do we have to lose for $20? We did a blind taste test with that and Patron and we really like the Kirkland better. I like smooth but I also want it to taste like tequila, I think Kirkland fits the bill. I read that it is made in the same distillery as the El Diamante de Cielo so, I'm not sure what difference is in how it is made, but I think it's an excellent value for the price.

I almost want to just give this tequila a perfect 100 rating because of the price. I don't know how Costco does it. Maybe this is like the secret runoffs that you see with wineries because they aren't allowed to bottle more than X but they produced 1.5X. So instead of spilling it, they rebrand it on the DL.

At $20, this tequila is an absolute steal. It's a delightful smooth lowland extra anejo tequila. I use it as a benchmark all the time to try to justify the prices of some far more expensive tequilas in the $200+ range that really aren't much better.

This is simply an amazing bang for your buck. Drink warm or serve on the rocks. For $20 a bottle throw it in Margaritas :-) You just can't go wrong with this.

Costco's first crack at their own brand of tequila. From a well respected NOM 1472, I knew for sure that it would be worth the price, but an anejo for $22 for 1L seemed to good to be true. In some ways it was...in other ways, not so much.

Aroma: More wood than agave. The agave scent is still there, but not as much as I'd like.
Initial taste: Wood and agave with some light earth and spice.
Body: Medium heavy body. The oak flavors take over a bit more than they should in a good tequila.
Finish: The aging makes it nice and smooth, but there isn't really a great linger of any kind on the end of this drink.

The one note that seems odd is that while I usually use a blanco or repo in margaritas, this anejo makes a great and extra smooth margarita. It serves well as a good value all purpose tequila. For $22, it's a steal and I'll always have a bottle on hand.

Saw this at Costco for $22 and, at that price, I had to try it.

The initial aroma was somewhat overpowering, and not in a good way. It was heavily medicinal in nature, with strong notes of alcohol. In my experience, most good sipping tequilas avoid this type of aroma/nose. It wasn't a good first impression. I poured a finger's worth over ice, swirled it around for a few seconds to chill it, then drained the tequila into a sipping glass. A few minutes of breathing didn't improve the nose at all. Ah well, on to the tasting.

Based on the nose, I wasn't expecting much. But I was pleasantly surprised. The tequila was easy on the tongue and smooth on the finish. The taste was pleasant and thoroughly enjoyable. It's not the best sipping tequila available, but it's more than passable for my tastes--much better than some of the pricier selections I've had in the past.

Based on the combination of taste, finish and price, I rated the enjoyability of this tequila a solid 93. I can see making this tequila a staple in my liquor cabinet. It will be great on those evenings when a good, basic sipping tequila is needed.

Got it from Costco, good tequila for the price. Great in margaritas or to sip in a snifter.
