I was treated to a complimentary glass of this tequila at lunch today; it's not currently available at the LCBO.
This is a very smooth reposado. Like the others that have reviewed this tequila here, I picked up notes of toffee and nice agave flavour with little to no alcohol burn.
The bottle is beautiful.

Great nose, sweet, with a nice light touch of sourness and tartness. Taste is soft agave, cinnamon bun, and vanilla birthday cake with caramel pastry frosting. This is a very tasty repo, vaguely reminiscent of (dare I say it) Don Julio's towering 1942. Both exhibit somewhat similar sweet caramelly smoothnesses, but where the 1942 has fullness, depth, and complexity, Clase Azul veers toward soft dessert wine territory. (My only real criticism of it is its lack of any decent finish). I'm almost tempted to call it The Poor Man's 1942 except that the price points of the two aren't that far apart. If you're willing to plunk down for the Clase Azul, throw in a few extra bucks for the 1942 - you won't regret it.

Many US bars seem to tote this as their finest tequila, or at least near the higher shelves. It is good, and may be the best tequila they have on hand. I like it, I order it, I shall order it again if my favorites are not on hand. The flashy bottle gave me pause but the tequila itself is worthy of a good bottle, it's a fine fine option.

The taste is sweet and simple, no burn, but also little true tequila body. Share it with your friends who may be getting into tequilas but are a little on the fence.

Sipping through a shot of this will be pricey, but probably your best option at many bars so go for it.

Provecho!
