Inocente Platinum Tequila Blanco

inocente Tequila is born of the philosophy that better ingredients and a better process creates a superior quality 100% Agave Tequila.  From the Spanish word for innocent, inocente is named for the all natural, pure ingredients that make this clean tasting platinum tequila. But it is a play on words as well, evoking the contrast between innocence and virtuosity and the very adult act of imbibing spirits.

inocente gets its unique taste by using the finest Agave, grown in the rich volcanic hills outside the town of Tequila, and only all natural ingredients in a process that marries age old techniques and modern distillation methods. While most premium tequilas are double distilled, this platinum tequila uses a triple distillation process to create that ultra smooth taste and palate feel that defines inocente Platinum Tequila and to remove the organic compounds that contribute to next morning headache. A micro-oxygenation process that injects tiny bubbles of air into the juice is performed post-distillation to remove any additional harshness and enhance the clean notes.

The distinctive blue bottles are each a unique work of art that are hand blown from 100 percent recycled glass and shaped into their signature “twist” by Mexican artisans. Beautiful to look at on a bar shelf, the bottle was designed to be recycled as a decorative piece after the tequila has been drunk. Whether used as a flower vase, a vessel for your favorite olive oil or as a piece of glass sculpture on your shelf, the bottle is as visually sophisticated as the contents are elegantly tasty.

Inocente Blanco * Tasted Blind June 2009 * Riedel Tequila Glass

Appearance: clear - thick body and slow tears
Aroma: cooked agave, sweet black pepper
Initial Taste: cinnamon and sweet agave
Spirit Body: agave, turns spicy, hot mouthfeel with light lemon
Finish / Aftertaste: cinnamon and mint finish with light mint aftertaste

Great agave aroma and flavors in this spicy Inocente Blanco Tequila, with a modern "twist" multi-color bottle.

I finally decided to write a review on this as I finished the bottle. Granted it may have lost some of its luster near the bottom, but I think this is still a fair review.

The nose is rather weak. There is a faint aroma of agave if I stick my nose way down into the glass. It does have a La Cofradia nose, which helps.

The taste is sweet agave with a some slight herbaceous and vegetal notes. Again, there are La Cofradia characteristics throughout. The body is medium-light, which turns slightly oily as it is held in the mouth.

The finish is short, quick, and unremarkable except for a pleasant La Cofradia aftertaste.

The bottle is unique with the twisted look, but points deducted for a disintegrating cork. I had wanted to try this blanco for quite awhile, waiting to find it at a decent price, but it was a little disappointing in the end.

First let me start by saying I'm not a fan of Blancos, that is until I tried Inocente. I gotta admit I keep it in the freezer and take it out at parties and watch it disappear, shot after shot. Even the ladies enjoy it because it's very smooth. PS They all comment about the pretty bottle.
