To fellow collectors
I'm trying to come up with ideas for displaying my tequila bottles and I'm stumped. I've checked out some hutches but I don't really like the way most of them look. Maybe not rustic enough or the limitations. What do you guys do to display your collections? I like the open shelf look like most restaurants have but I've also seen wall cabinets with glass doors that look nice too. Do you guys light the bottles with light cord or down lights? I'm also wondering about all of the different heights on the bottles, if I get a cabinet that is not tall enough then I won't be able to fit bigger bottles inside. Versatility is the key! Any ideas? Thanks Tim

i too, put them over the kitchen cabinets. i wanna say the kitchen was designed for that exact reason, because all my tall bottles fit. it just sucks though, because everytime i wanna get one down, i need to grab a chair. sometimes i wish i was eight feet tall.

I had a metal fabricator who makes ornate gates, fences, etc, build me a metal three level rack that has a metal mesh shelfs. He added some spiral metal and a few other pieces to give it a more rustic look. The nice thing about the rack is it is very strong and can hold bottles 4 to 5 deep, so I'm guessing that I have over a 100 bottles on the rack.
If you are able to find a metal fabricator, ask to see his catalog of specialty metals, there are so many shapes and sizes to choose from to create your own style rack. |

I used to put some of my bottles up high on the top of the kitchen cabinets, but if you use your kitchen regularly you might notice a grease (and dust) build-up on your bottles over time. Easy to clean the bottles, but may ruin a paper label...

I bought those same exact shelves, but mine have been used for my diecast model car collection, i have my bottles scatterd all over my media room, it seems that this is the only room in the house (according to my wife) that i can do what ever i want, i really wish i could display all my bottles, but with a father in law who is a recovering alcoholic, 4 yrs sober, it would be unfair to jingle his criptonite all over the house when he comes to visit, and man do they come over alot!!! Anyway, i am planning on making a built in closet with enough room to house my entire collection, the garage in my house has a small storage shed that i can transform, and this way it would out of site, but not too far where i can't run in and grab one if needed, i'm stillkinda working on the layout, but it's looking good, luckily my brother works for a glass and mirror company, so getting custom cut shelving is not going to be a problem.

Here is what I did in my Dining room. I wanted to do something different with my bottles and have it be a theme for the room. I would venture to say it falls into the tacky side but so far everyone that has stepped into the room admires every bottle and of course I give my bakground tequila story to accompany the bottles. BTW, Every Scone can hold 2 bottles. I also plan on getting a Rustic looking cabinet to store more tequilas.
