Gila Tequila Reposado

Gila Tequila Reposado is 100% de Agave, aged at least 2 months in white oak barrels, and produced at Industrializadora de Agave San Isidro. It is named after the "Gila Monster", the poisonous lizard that lives in the deserts of the United States and Mexico. It is currently available in some US duty free stores.

Adriana tasted it first and sighed, "Ah... tierra mojada." ... remembering the moist earth aromas of her native Morelia.
Pale gold colour, clear and polished. Nose carries earth, agave, dark spice and faint smoke.
Initial taste is earth, sweet agave, herbals and spice. Moderate body offers mild agave presence, spice and a hint of chocolate. Fade is modest and fairly well balanced, with a suggestion of wood and cinnamon.
Overall, and for the price ($30) this is a pretty agreeable reposado in an attractive pagkage. So far I have seen it only in Duty-Free outlets. The distiller has little information on the Internet as of October, 2008.
