This Platinum is different than the Silver used to be. The Platinum is more refined and less in your face than the silver used to be. I am a huge fan of the old Silver and while this is different the quality level is similar in a different style. Less Agave on the nose and palate but still a wonderful Tequila. To top it all off the price tag makes this an incredible value. It delivers more for $10-$15 less than the competition.

Tasted in a caballito on January 30, 2008 showing lasting legs down the glass turning to droplets.

El Tesoro Platinum

Color: clear
Aroma: pine
Taste: lime and slightly smokey, a smooth finish with very little burn.

A great blanco to use in cocktails.

I purchased this about a month ago and I feel it is decent for sipping but there was way too much pepper flavor for my liking so I ended up using it as a mixer and that worked fine.It is not oily and has almost no burn on the finish.I suggest trying it if you find some. I am still on the lookout for a great sipping blanco in my area.Of late I have really noticed blancos having lots of variation in taste from batch to batch.Let me know if you feel the same.
Cheers.

El Tesoro Silver ? NOM 1139 ? Tasted 3/2/07. The tequila is clear color and has intense floral, fruit, and earth aromas. Once you get past the intense nose, you can smell mild notes of spice and smoke. On the tip of the tongue the tequila is mellow and soft while having a light intensity of taste and feels thin in the mouth. The tequila has a hint of bitterness and has a low amount of sweetness. Now onto flavor. The flavor has intense to moderate agave, earth, and floral attributes which are followed by mild spice, fruit, and smoke. The tequilas finish is a medium duration of flavor followed by a slight numbing alcohol feeling. Overall, I rated this tequila at the ?B+? level.
