What tequila doesn't NOM 1079 make? I read good things about this one and the bottle looked good. The price isn't too high, so why not give it a shot. Since I'm a reposado guy (at least that's generally my favorite), I figured I'd start with that one.
Aroma: Mild agave scent with vanilla, apple/pear and a bit of grassy notes.
Initial Taste: Nice light agave, fruit and vanilla flavor.
Body: Thin body. Initial flavors continue and oak and a hint of brown spices come through as well.
Finish: The Vanilla, oak and spice flavors all continue and a bit of anise is there as well. Very smooth, no burn. A pleasant finish.
This is pretty good stuff. The bottle looks good, the tequila is solid and it's fairly well priced. I won't say to rush out and buy this, but I certainly wouldn't tell you not to either. If you like tequilas with a mild fruit flavor with pear or apple, this might be right up your alley. Overall, a very solid reposado.

NOTE: This tequila has been around for awhile, and this review was based on the current version. Older versions of this are considered treasures by collectors.
A pleasant nose on this repo. Similar to the blanco with agave and mint, but with a little wood, caramel, a bit of smokiness, and an underlying floral tone.
A soft entry and taste that resembles the nose. Slight tingle, but not an unpleasant burn. The taste is not overpowering in any respect, but the mint and floral stood out the most. Body is medium to light, and maybe slightly dry, although there is still a sweetness. Finish is quick, with a slight burn in the back of the throat. There is a lingering aftertaste of the floral mintiness.
Although a pleasant experience, this will not be a regular for me. The lingering aftertaste doesn't do it for me, but at least it has character. I do like the blue bottle presentation.

Tequila Oro Azul Reposado, NOM 1079. I received this tequila as a thoughtful birthday gift from my nephew a few months ago. Beautiful straw yellow color with golden hues. Agave/apple scents are followed by wood smoke, light caramel, & slight alcohol. The complex spicy taste is sweet agave nectar with a smoky caramel aftertaste. This medium bodied spirit finishes with a fairly long, slightly numbing effect on the tongue, fading away into a wonderful bouquet of smoky sweetness. Oro Azul Reposado is quite smooth even with a very slight taste of alcohol which, BTW, does not in anyway detract from the overall tasting experience. This is a reasonably priced, premium tequila worthy of the most discriminating palate & a pure pleasure to sip after dinner like a cognac. I can only imagine, at this time, what the anejo must taste like.

Tasted out of high ball glass. Oro Azul Reposado picks up exactly where its blanco left off and adds a hint of wood and caramel. A very decent reposado. Very similar to my review of its blanco. I would say this is a good reposado for new tequila/reposado drinkers.
Aroma: A very creamy, vanilla, pear like aroma with hints of wood and smoke.
Initial Taste:I thin mouth tequila. Starting off with a pear like fruity taste.
Body: Followed by strong agave presence with hints of fruit, spice, and wood. More so the wood than the fruit, but not overbearing wood taste. Very complimentary to the agave.
Finish: A very soft pleasant fruity, spicy finish of medium duration and no alcohol burn.
