Casa Noble Single Barrel Reposado Tequila

My all time favorite and not my all time favorite. Let me explain. I first purchased the single barrel from ABC spirits and it was so amazing I purchased the rest of the case off the shelf. Barrel #317. Brutal amazing vanilla notes on the nose. People in the room who don't even drink went nuts over the nose on this. Initial taste is good and the body and mouth feel could be a bit more oily for my taste. Leave all that aside because the finish is glorious. All the vanilla on the nose comes flooding back in followed with an earthy, leathery vibe. It's almost like you feel as if you've had a slice of dessert after dinner.

Now the bad part about single barrel. Something this hand crafted has its discrepancies. The next bottles ABC got in were barrel 344. Still quite excellent and embodies all of the masterful qualities of this single barrel. Super clean from being a triple distilled tequila that's seen resting time in a brand new unused barrel. But NOT as good as 317. Still at the same $45 price as the normal reposed this stuff is better and an absolute bargain. As amazing as it is authentic.

Casa Noble has been around for a long time...and they've come out with plenty of special edition items over the years as well. So it should surprise no one that it is my most reviewed brand. This is the sixth review on a CN product and it is one that is no longer produced: The Cobalt Blue Ceramic Reposado. The history and celebrity owner ship (Carlos Santana) is well chronicled, so let's jump right in...

Price: $50/bottle (roughly $100-120 on secondary market now)

Aroma: Earthy agave with oak, nutty and dark chocolate notes

Initial Taste: A complex entry with earthy agave, nuts, fresh baked bread, vanilla and a hint of vegetal notes.

Body: A velvety and rich body. There's hint of fruit along with a big oak flavor that brings out of the bitter dark chocolate. There's still enough agave and vanilla sweetness to round it out.

Finish: A medium to long finish where the oak notes shine. Just hints of spice are there to give it an added complexity.

While I won't say that Casa Noble is my favorite brand overall, this product is excellent. If you are a fan of their work, you should definitely seek out this juice. The agave notes combined with the really good barrel aging (some the Casa Noble does as well as anyone), makes for a balanced and tasty repo. Excellent.

I picked up a bottle of this cheap, so the price I paid is not representative of what I could buy another bottle for. Just as well bnecause I doubt I'll be buying another bottle. The initial nose was kind of sicky-sweet. The initial taste was mild but then it all goes downhill. The body is almost syrupy, with a finish that I can only describe as "cloying" like a sick sweet honey flavor. No alcohol burn, and not horrible, but not what I was expecting from such a dignified presentation.

I just didn't like the taste ,maybe it was me,but maybe I got a bad batch,bottle is cool through

Tried in "Diego's" in Las Vegas, medallion states "Diego's", so it is their own personal barrel.
Like the standard reposado (the ceramic bottle, I have yet to try the new glass bottle) it was smooth with a light agave taste, easy finish with no burn. What was different was the "creamy" flavor I get from the standard reposado, was not present in this single barrel. That one aspect makes me rate the standard a tad higher.
The single barrel is enjoyable and I would love to be able to purchase it for the Casa Noble suggested retail cost of $54.95. Unfortunately since this was Diego's own barrel, and a bar in Las Vegas, they set their bottle price at $275. Since the pricing is so ridiculously outrageous, I had to rate it as low as it can go, but that is not a reflection on the tequila itself.
