Kiwi 'Rita
For the fusion:
375ml Blanco Tequila (get a good earthy and smooth blanco...)
4 Peeled and Sliced FRESH Kiwi's
One small can of Diced Pineapples They are only like .59 cents for a small can at the grocery store opposed to a 5.00 pineapple that you will not use entirely.
Pour the blanco tequila into a sealed mixer with the sliced kiwis first. Muddle the kiwis and shake, then drop in the small can of diced pineapples (about 10 of them). You do not need to muddle the concentrated canned pineapples. Shake every couple hours and right before filtering out the fruits.
Let sit for 12-36 hours...I pulled it after leaving it overnight and throughout the next day. The tequila was LIME green and somewhat foggy...Filter the fruits out of the tequila, the kiwi seeds linger but give the margarita character in a glass.
Use this fusion in your traditional mix for a margarita...
My method for the weekend was...
2 Oz's Fused Tequila
Juice of 1/2 Lime and 1/2 Lemon
.75 Oz of 100% Orange or Pineapple Juice
(Use agave nectar or the concentrated pineapple juice left over from the can for sweetener...I used the concentrated juice left over since agave nectar is expensive)
Overall these wont break the bank...Lemons, Limes, Kiwis are cheap...canned pineapples are really cheap and a decent blanco wont be too bad either. My method yielded slightly less agave flavor than I initially wanted although the drinks were potent, so I also added .5oz of a reposado to a couple drinks for added flavor...I was very satisfied.
Salud!
