In my opinion, Negra Modelo has the perfect beer flavor. It says "dark beer" on the bottle, but it's nothing like Guinness in color, weight and richness. It's much lighter than you expect with more of a lager taste yet tons of flavor. Some other great Mexican beers are Noche Buena, Carta Blanca, Pacifico (more of a light summer beer), and Tecate but only when it's ice-cold and with lime and hot sauce on the brim! Try it you'll be pleasantly surprised. Sol, Modelo Especial, Dos Equis and especially Corona (bleh!) can't hold a candle to the aforementioned quality beers.
