Anyone try a Prickly Pear Margarita? I made several mistakes in trying to make my own prickly pear juice....very bad idea, so I ordered a case from a compnay out of Arizona. A PricKy Pear margarita tastes like a strawberry margarita to me, although they went over big a a Cinco de Mayo party

Wow, so Rosco....if I take 1 oz of tequila, traditional lime juice/agave syrup then muddle honey dew melon in a shaker and strain over ice to make a melon margarita? That sounds like it will be a big hit at my next party, thanks for the tip and let me know if that would be a correct way of making it. As for the cucumber margarita....yuck. And the prickly pear marg sounds good, although I would think it may be a bit overpowering and I'm not a fan of strawberry but thanks for the tip blagave

Yup that's exactly how you make it, and for a little pizzazz, you might want to muddle a couple of pieces in the glass as well, to give it a nice look.

And seriously, cucumber maragrita is awesome, It's super refreshing, and I am a huge fan of anything with lemon and Chile powder, so this one is right up my alley.

On the cucumber idea, cut the cucumber in sections - 4 to 5 inches, and hollow out the inside leaving one end still intact. Use the inside to muddle a cucumber margarita, and then pour a shot in the hollowed out cucumber shell as a sidecar. I saw this type of shot served at a HDC Sotol event, they served plata shots in the cucumber shells and tomato halves. Very cool.

I've done the same with lemon halves, you have to cut a flat spot to keep it from rolling around.
