Default Chamucos

Talking to the owner of Chamucos this weekend and we were discussing the new juice from 1558. Has anyone tried the new juice yet? All I can find in vegas still is the 1414, but he said the 1558 should be popping up soon if it hasnt already. Supposed to be quite superior to their old juice. From what he said the new distillery is at the highest altitude in the region, shaving a few days off of distillation and reducing the angels share. He said the altitude made all the difference in the world to the smoothness of the tequila... however they are still acquiring their agave from the same place so Im not sure how drastic it could be. Anyone had it yet?

The reposado I picked up here in CO is from 1558. The Blanco and Anejo here are still from 1414.

I haven't tried the new stuff yet.

I thought the angels share refered to evaporation in aging and not distillation?

But how does it compare to the juice from 1433? We are on our third bottle of the repo and quite like it. Hope the new stuff is at par with the juice we are used to.

didnt mean that in reference to the distillation, was just trying to point out the the higher elevation is letting them keep more of the product. Not sure how it will affect the juice as far as flavor/body, I was just trying to relay info that was given to me.

I dont think i ever had the pleasure of trying 1433. I think i was turned onto Chamucos when they were at 1414. Was 1433 better than 1414?

well, ive found the 1558 in blanco here, but all the repos ive found are still 1414. The 1558 is very smooth, very light... crisp and clean, similar to the their previous blanco. Wish i had a bottle of each to try side-by-side I know a lot of you guys are big on full agave flavor in the blancos, but i enjoy mine to be a little more mellow, which i think is why i tend to fall to blancos such as chamucos.
