After seeing this in one of the local Co-op Liquor stores (alberta canada) at $65 I thought the pricing was a mistake as all of the other anejos typically start in the $90 range. I bought it thinking the bottle was cool and it had to be a pretty good deal. My first tasting wowed me, the oak was not overpowering and the caramel was buttery sweet. If this is what Anejo was then I was hooked. (Typically drinking blanco's prior to this) Of all the bottles I have now this is one that keeps me coming back. Great finish which isn't too harsh. Great presentation (people always comment on the bottle when its sitting out with 10-12 other Tequila's). I don't know why I haven't bought the blanco or reposado yet considering I must have purchased 20 tequilas since, I think its because I love this one so much I'm concerned the others won't match up. Highly recommend!
This is the first añejo I tryed and I still like it a lot. It's very smooth and you'd probably want to try it a few times before you discover all the flavours. The price kicks off around 70$ where I live and even tho it's alot, I'd defenitly buy it again.
I really liked the repo, so was looking forward to the anejo, but this was a bit of a disappointment in the end.
Loved the nose on this: sweet, fruity, a hint of bubblegum?. There was also a bit of caramel, oak, and mint - a lot going on. Once in the mouth, bitterness took over the sweetness and fruit, and maybe a tiny bit of sourness. There was a slight tingle on the tongue. Body was thin. Finish was quick and dry with tannins and continued bitterness.
This anejo started so promising with a great nose, but lost me once it hit my mouth. If this were a budget or bargain brand, it might be more tolerable, but in this price range I expect better.
Color- Pale straw.
Aroma- Sweet agave with oily caramel, and a slight pepper finish.
Initial Taste- Oily, buttery, semi sweet agave, very mute.
Body- Lingers on your palate with caramel, and peppery agave.
Finish- Finish is short and sweet, more of a low to medium body.
Enjoyability- This tequila is a solid anejo for the price. I prefer a fuller bodied anejo. I suspect they are re-using there barrels several times.
Purchased a bottle after trying the flight with a rep. For the price at about $60 a bottle it is good, but there is better quality products around the same price.
