It's always nice when the first drink of a tequila is so good that it has you itching to try the other expressions. Tequila 88 anejo was like that for me. Really great flavors, a long finish and a decent price. Those are all things that I appreciate in a brand. So it goes without saying that I was excited when I was able to get my hands on the blanco.

Aroma: Cooked agave, lemon zest and light pepper aromas. Nice balance.
Initial Taste: A pleasant and light agave sweetness, hints of citrus and light pepper.
Body: A medium oily body. The citrus notes come through a bit more with a spicy agave kick and a hint of earth.
Finish: A very long lasting peppery finish that hangs on for an eternity with a very light bit of that lemon zest. A really nice and long, yet smooth, finish.

This is a really solid blanco. You can get some of the fruit hints that are evident in the anejo, but you also get the big agave flavors that every good blanco should have. A very nice balance of everything that I like in an unaged tequila. You can really tell the thought and craftsmanship that has been put into this brand. If it's in your local store, I'd definitely recommend getting a bottle for a refreshing sipper or a superb cocktail.
