Bought 1/10/10, Paid $50 and added to my growing collection. The bottle is first rate if not a bit boring. I,m learning that it is best to pour your tequila in your preferred glass and let it settle for a bit. The color is light straw and evenly oily, it does not clump up... just slides down the side of the glass, pretty cool actually. El Tesoro gets more complex after a minute or two in the glass. The nose is light, alcohol/agave/wood and nothing offensive yet not enticing either. The taste is classic tequila with minimal intrusions, a purest tequila if you will. Has a slight burn and leaves a nice little sting on the tongue when finished... This is tequila, straight, aged and made with loving care, it comes through in every oz. A must have for the those who love tequila.

I had my brother pick this up for me in NY for $49.99 (750 ml), which I feel like is a great value for this caliber tequila, especially given the handmade tradition they employ at El Tesoro (great video on their website). I prefer to sip straight up typically, which is how I drank this.

El Tesoro never adds water to their tequila to achieve proper proof, and that is, to me, very obvious in tasting this fine tequila. The most notable scents are wood/oak and agave, and because of their methods are almost the only scents there, along with a subtle alcohol smell. This is probably the most pronounced oak/agave combination I've tasted as both are very pronounced.

The initial taste was, again, oak and agave, and even a bit of honey and carmel. The body is a bit less complex than many others at this price point, but the agave flavor can certainly be appreciated. The wood was a bit too pronounced for me and almost too oaky, but made up for by the delicious balance of the agave. Great finish with very little burn, along with a great aftertaste.

While I have an appreciation of this tequila it wouldn't be one of my favorites to sip. Definitely worth trying though! I think it will make any tequila loved appreciate the art of tequila making even more.

Since this seemed to be one of the universal "must have" tequilas, I decided to give it a try.
1 1/2 oz in a mini snifter at room temperature.

It has a good initial agave scent. The first sip has a nice light flavor, agave with a good amount of woody/oak flavor. Very little burn too it, though by the end of the 1.5 oz it added up a little. But it wasnt distracting.

I feel it's a good overall/everyday tequila. I wouldnt put it into my all time favorite list, but since it is reasonably priced, it will someday make it into my collection. $45 in W. Mass.
