It's a good solid tequila with no special tastes that make it unique. It's just agave, wood and spice and the basics of what tequila lovers all look for in good juice. Aroma: The least pleasant part of this one. Maybe a bit more alcohol smell than I wanted, but it opens up after sitting for a while. Taste: A good solid mix of agave and oak. No other tasting notes that are particularly noteworthy. It's a medium body that is not too oily. Finish: Just like the taste throughout. Pleasant, wood and nice agave flavor. It's a solid all around tequila. For $35, it's a good deal. For $50, I'd rather buy something else. It's fairly easy to find, so it's a good one to recommend to new people looking for a good solid sipper. ]]> Sun, 22 Jan 2012 06:49:23 +0000 <![CDATA[El Tesoro de Don Felipe Tequila Anejo: ]]> https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=1872 https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=1872 I would give this tequila a solid B. It’s nice, but really nothing special. The flavor is strait tequila, it is not super smooth or altered, but there isn't really anything wrong with that. It has nice tequila spiciness to it but I think for the money there is better tequila to be had, but if it’s on sale it’s worth a try. ]]> Fri, 11 Mar 2011 00:49:08 +0000 <![CDATA[El Tesoro de Don Felipe Tequila Anejo: ]]> https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=1553 https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=1553 This one started me om my passion for Tequila. The best value out there. Its oak finish is smooth with a little bite. It is not to heavy and its finish is spicey. Its wood aroma is what draws a non tequila drinker in. A great bottle to open on poker night. I always have a bottle in reserve. ]]> Thu, 03 Jun 2010 20:56:19 +0000 <![CDATA[El Tesoro de Don Felipe Tequila Anejo: ]]> https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=1494 https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=1494 I got lucky and picked up a bottle of this for $35.00. For that price, it is a good Tequila. The initial nose is adventurous. It consist of pepper, spice, agave and some minerals. It held onto the glass lightly and showed some thinness in it's legs. Upon first sip, I was taken back by the sweetness and spice. It had an almost candy taste to it, but a lingering hint of wood kept me guessing. I let it rest in my mouth for a minute and develop. After 30 seconds, the flavor developed a little, but still, was dominated by a strange spice and wood flavor. After I swallowed it, I sensed that this tequila had a unique character, one that was enjoyably different. It is not your usual agave and wood affair, but something very different. It almost had to much flavor by way of it's particular sweetness. If you are in a "Macho" mood and want a share your drink with myriad friends, then this Añejo is a good choice. ]]> Fri, 16 Apr 2010 09:00:36 +0000 <![CDATA[El Tesoro de Don Felipe Tequila Anejo: ]]> https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=1418 https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=1418 this is one fine anejo ,good price ,very enjoyable to sip. ]]> Fri, 12 Mar 2010 23:56:45 +0000 <![CDATA[El Tesoro de Don Felipe Tequila Anejo: ]]> https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=1403 https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=1403 Bought 1/10/10, Paid $50 and added to my growing collection. The bottle is first rate if not a bit boring. I,m learning that it is best to pour your tequila in your preferred glass and let it settle for a bit. The color is light straw and evenly oily, it does not clump up... just slides down the side of the glass, pretty cool actually. El Tesoro gets more complex after a minute or two in the glass. The nose is light, alcohol/agave/wood and nothing offensive yet not enticing either. The taste is classic tequila with minimal intrusions, a purest tequila if you will. Has a slight burn and leaves a nice little sting on the tongue when finished... This is tequila, straight, aged and made with loving care, it comes through in every oz. A must have for the those who love tequila. ]]> Sun, 07 Mar 2010 20:40:07 +0000 <![CDATA[El Tesoro de Don Felipe Tequila Anejo: ]]> https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=992 https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=992 I had my brother pick this up for me in NY for $49.99 (750 ml), which I feel like is a great value for this caliber tequila, especially given the handmade tradition they employ at El Tesoro (great video on their website). I prefer to sip straight up typically, which is how I drank this. El Tesoro never adds water to their tequila to achieve proper proof, and that is, to me, very obvious in tasting this fine tequila. The most notable scents are wood/oak and agave, and because of their methods are almost the only scents there, along with a subtle alcohol smell. This is probably the most pronounced oak/agave combination I've tasted as both are very pronounced. The initial taste was, again, oak and agave, and even a bit of honey and carmel. The body is a bit less complex than many others at this price point, but the agave flavor can certainly be appreciated. The wood was a bit too pronounced for me and almost too oaky, but made up for by the delicious balance of the agave. Great finish with very little burn, along with a great aftertaste. While I have an appreciation of this tequila it wouldn't be one of my favorites to sip. Definitely worth trying though! I think it will make any tequila loved appreciate the art of tequila making even more. ]]> Tue, 20 Jan 2009 12:18:51 +0000 <![CDATA[El Tesoro de Don Felipe Tequila Anejo: ]]> https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=884 https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=884 this is one of the best priced on the market, and very tasty ]]> Mon, 03 Nov 2008 15:34:29 +0000 <![CDATA[El Tesoro de Don Felipe Tequila Anejo: ]]> https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=773 https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=773 Since this seemed to be one of the universal "must have" tequilas, I decided to give it a try. 1 1/2 oz in a mini snifter at room temperature. It has a good initial agave scent. The first sip has a nice light flavor, agave with a good amount of woody/oak flavor. Very little burn too it, though by the end of the 1.5 oz it added up a little. But it wasnt distracting. I feel it's a good overall/everyday tequila. I wouldnt put it into my all time favorite list, but since it is reasonably priced, it will someday make it into my collection. $45 in W. El Tesoro anjeo was amazing. Now that Ive delved into the world of anejos, I thought it be a good idea to try the anejo of one of my favorite blancos. And I was pleased as punch! I liked that it wasn't too 'syrupy' as I've experienced with some anejos I've tried. Aroma: Pleasant agave and light caramel tones. Initial Taste: It's sweet on tip of tongue, but not bitter. I have to agree with that. The Anejo has an excellent agave and oak flavor. The flavors are strong but it's exceptionally smooth. I tried this tequila at Zocalo in Sacramento, CA. 1.5 ounces of El Tesoro Anejo ran me $10 and I tasted it in a snifter. With a pale yellow golden color, this tequila has intense aromas of floral, fruit, and earth. Other aromas include moderate caramel and spice followed by mild vanilla. The tequila has a medium-to-oily mouth feel and on the first sip is sweet with mild-to-moderate bitterness. El Tesoro Anejo has intense aromas of earth, floral, and agave followed by moderate notes of fruit. With a long duration of flavor, tastes of mild vanilla, caramel, and smoke bring this tequila to a numbing finish. I don't think anyone can complain that it's too much of either. What a perfect marriage. The nose starts out with heavy vanilla and cinnamon that tricks you at first but after the first sip, the agave hits you hard but not harsh. The body is pleasant and the finish hints of caramel with not too much alcohol burn. The bottle is simple, but elegant. I guarantee that this Anejo will please even the most skeptical critic.
