It was over 300 reviews ago that I wrote about Karma Silver. When I wrote that review, I never in my life would have dreamed that I'd ever taste 300+ tequilas. But the jimadores and master distillers of Mexico keep making wonderful agave distillate and I'm happy to search the shelves trying to find the best ones.

Price: $30-40/bottle

Aroma: Musty agave. Light vanilla.

Initial Taste: Buttery agave entry with hints of vanilla.

Body: Medium-oily mouth feel. Spice notes (cinnamon) come forward to compliment the vanilla and agave.

Finish: A fairly pleasant sizzle on the finish from cinnamon and pepper. Light sweetness lingers as well. A pleasant, but not notable finish.

This is a farily tasty reposado, but there’s nothing special about it. If you like light vanilla and some baking spice notes to go along with a light agave flavor, this is a good option for you. In the $30 price range, this is a solid buy in a cool bottle. It won't change your life, but you should enjoy every ounce of what Karma Reposado has to offer.

This reposado is a continuation of the silver. There is still a chemical aspect that I can't shake on the nose. A little bit of caramel is present compared to the silver, but not much complexity here.

In the taste, the caramel from the oak comes through enough to make you forget about the chemical aroma...sort of. There is a slight sweet cooked agave taste, but not much else. As with the silver, the body has nice weight to it, and is one of the better attributes of this tequila; and I don't think the weight is from added glycerin, so that is good, if true.

The finish is fairly unremarkable. It is quick without much time to comment on any particular aspect.

Overall, as a bargain this would not be a bad purchase under $30, but as with the silver, it's not much of a sipper. It would, however, be a good mixer. I do like the bottle.

Wow what a great flavor. No wonder it won best highland reposado. the smoothness of the silver carries through on the sweet bourbon flavors of the repo. extremely nice finish but the nose is nothing short of amazing. Hands down my favorite reposado.
