Default Puerto Vallarta tequilas, anyone?

Hello gang!! Been a bit since I've been able to tune in. Life is wild with the tea business these days! And that's a good thing, methinks! I hope this inquiry finds you all very very well.

A good friend of mine is heading to Puerto Vallarta in two weeks and knows I'm way into tequila and was hoping I might be able to give him a heads-up on 2 or 3 bottles that he might pick up there. I've not been to PV so I am of no help, but thought I'd see if some of you might have something in mind!?!?!?!?!

thanks, in advance for whatever help you might give!

Grateful,
Garret

There is supposedly a new La Europea in PV... have your friend take a few pics of the tequila selection, email them or text them to you, and you can pick. They typically have a good selection and good prices.

All the tourist shops along the boardwalk are kind of pricey, but I've found some decent stuff out walking around.

Welcome back Garret! I was beginning to wonder if all was ok? Glad business is good. It sure beats the alternative!

Garret, just make sure your friend doesn't pick you up anything from the duty free shop at the airport. The selection isn't very good and the prices are really high. I went to one of the La Playa stores and picked up a couple bottles of Tapatio. Their prices were pretty good and they had a nice selection. I couldn't spend too much time shopping because my family was waiting for me, but the Tapatio was something I've wanted to try for a long time, so I grabbed an anejo & repo. You cant go wrong with either one.

I would have him go to La Playa or to the new La Europea. The other tequilas that I know are at La Playa are; Pueblo Viejo, Tesoro, Tapatio, Reserva de Los Gonzales.

Hola Garret,
I asked a friend whose family still lives in Puerto Vallarta - his suggestion:- simply avoid the shops in El Centro. If your pal wanders away from the tourist downtown he may find a few gems, and he will certainly find far better prices. Make sure you send him with a shopping list - I have seen SO many people return with low grade products 'recommended' by shopkeepers.

Thank you, gentlemen, for the kind replies. I will make sure that he is taken care of. He is a big bourbon fan and really got excited about tequila when he tasted some real stuff here. I want him to return with good stuff so he stay excited about it. Not that there's anything wrong with bourbon. It's just that tequila is magical, medicinal, meditative, majestic.... well, you know

Hey Jim!!! Glad to be back. Though my time here is limited, I am happy to be here when I can. We never did make it to FL this past January. But it will happen. And then we shall share and sip!! Putting together another trip to China in order to source more teas and tea wares for our shop and online biz. The tequila selection in China is absolutely horrible. So I'm going to bring a couple of real bottles to share with my tea merchant friends there!!!
I do hope that all is very very well with you!!!
