Default JC RDLF

Hi fellow tequila lovers, I have just recently discovered (and became a member) of this awesome site. It started when I recently acquired a 1.75 bottle of RDLF 1995 # 849. I've discovered stupid values attached and really don't have a clear picture of what it's true value is. Real question is would I sell it for a reasonable offer- sure, depends how reasonable it is.

Unless you bought it over 3 years ago it might be a reissue. In that case it's worth what you paid. If an original, who can say?

My understanding is that they only re-issued the 750's, but I could be incorrect. Sausage can you tell how to tell the difference between the new and the old I think

Yes and yes.

The yes part. They did re-issue the 750 ml and had many of us confused at the beginning as to the original date of this tequila, the for sure way of telling if it is or not an original issue is the laser engraved date on the back, thanks to Ryan for his decoding chart. As for the box's the originals came with hinges and clasp from 1995 to 2003. The re-issue all come with a slide top exept for the 1995 which does have a hinged top, but the print is much darker than the original.

The other yes. Although the print on the box may be the same, the size of the box & bottle is not. The larger bottle 2.5 lt. I would consider it not to be a "Sneaky" reissue, because of it's different size.
That is the main sign of a larger reissue JCRF is that it is a 2.5 lt. bottle. The original where only available in a 1.5lt/1.75 lt. and not in the current 2.5 lt. Also as in the 750 ml the 2.5lt bottle has the laser etched code on the back side, which when broken down it will tell you the actual bottling date.

Did I miss something about there being no original 2.5L's?
