Bummed and happy at the same time.
As I've mentioned previously, I really like Chamucos (1433) reposado. Not quite my very favorite, but it's almost $10 less than Don Julio repo, which is my favorite so far. The HdC Sotols are giving the Don a run for his money, but I digress.
Anywho, I was looking at the (minimal) tequila selection in the local liquor store, when the Puerto Vallarta 100% Agave reposado caught my eye. NOM 1433, eh? Why, I can think of at least two from that distillery that I am very fond of. 26 bucks, eh? How bad could it be? Well, I'll be darned if it doesn't taste exactly the same as my beloved Chamucos. Smooth with a nice smokey agave punch, and a little bit of a bite on the finish. Just the way I like it. Sure, the bottle is much more plain and the label is a little hokey, but for $20 less per bottle, I can enjoy it a whole lot more often.
I am going to miss that cool Chamucos bottle and box.
