Tasted 07/05/08 out of Double Old fashioned glass. I tried it first as a sipper. The second time around I put a splash of orange juice in it. As a sipper, I've tasted better repos, but it still had the same body taste as the blanco 1800, interesting. For me, not great, but not bad.

Aroma: Wood, earth, and faint agave
Initial Taste: An oily mouth feel, on the tip of tongue there is slight bitterness
Body: slight wood taste (I always prefer less), and a mellow agave body.
Finish: hints of cinnamon and spices, with a slight alcohol burn.

I agree with the current ratings, however IMHO it's a bit too light in body and flavor for me to warrant paying over $17-$20. It's a very good tequila but I think the fancy bottle and label is why the price is $25.00+.

1800 Tequila Reserva Reposado, NOM 1122. This clear golden spirit was enjoyed in a double shot glass. It had a medium scent of alcohol at first which developed into roasted agave & oak after airing for a short period of time. The initial taste was peppery, smoky, & spicy with sweet fruit, a hint of vanilla, & medium alcohol. The pepper & spice lingered with some bitterness in this medium bodied tequila & finished in medium fashion where the slightly bitter taste dissipated. 1800 Reposado was fairly smooth, consistent with it's $24.95 price tag, not at all bad for what you received in return. I feel the current 1800 label is certainly a better product now compared to when it had a closer association with Jose Cuervo. Just short of a solid B.

1800 Reposado NOM 1122 Tasted on 2/29/08 at 7:40pm. I tried this tequila, which cost me $4, at the Davis Graduate Tequila Bar and tasted it in a snifter. With a yellow golden color, this tequila has intense floral and earthy aromas. Other aromas include moderate spice and fruit with mild smoke. The tequila has a medium mouth feel and on the first sip is sweet with mild to moderate bitterness. 1800 Reposado has numerous arrays of flavors due to its 6 months of aging. Intense flavors of floral and agave are followed by moderate notes of spice, earth, and fruit. With a medium duration of flavor, tastes of mild smoke with hints of wood bring this tequila to a subtle finish. 1800 Reposado has received the rating of 82 points out of 100.
