Fina Estampa Tequila Reposado

Tequila Fina Estampa Reposado

Fina Estampa started when one of the owners of Un Tequila Artesanal, who was and still is today working as one of the main agave buyers for other well-known tequila manufacturers in Mexico, set out to create his own tequila.  He combined his years of experience in the purchasing and grading of quality agave, along with the many years of experimenting with different tequila formulas to create one of Mexico's finest tequilas.

I love Fina Estampa blanco, and the anejo has a special place as well, but repos are tough to get right.

This just smells like an old tequila - musty, yet with some mild fruitiness. The taste continues with mustiness - maybe that famous wet cement. It has a sweet flavor, yet does have a dry element from the oak. There is definitely a delayed numbing; it's not direct heat. Body is light...not thin, but light. The finish is quick in the aspect of heat, but lasts awhile in taste. The mustiness continues, with a slight dry fruity lingering.

This tequila may have more nastalgic value than anything, but it is worthy from that aspect alone. It is not going to blow you away in any one aspect, but IMO it is a reminder of times past and certainly not one to kick-to-the-curb. If you have the opportunity to acquire this repo to complete the flight, by all means do so.

This was a little different than I was expecting, but turned out to be a very nice and smooth tequila.

Aroma: Light agave, oak and citrus.
Initial taste: Not as sweet as many tequilas, but still had good agave flavor. The hints of oak and spice complimented it nicely. The tequila itself is not at all heavy...a very light and pleasant feel in the mouth.
Finish: An extremely smooth finish with a nice spice linger and a very pleasant heat.

The Fina Estampa bottles are really cool and the house a good juice. I've found that the prices vary wildly on this one, so make sure that you shop around for the right price.

First off, I need to emphasize how loyal I am to blanco. I just prefer the strong agave taste without any distractions. But since the store near my house only stocked the Reposado and Anejo for this brand, I thought what the hell! I couldnt be more impressed suprised. The aroma through the initial taste were very subtle, yet obvious presence of agave. The body brought up the citrus and agave presence even further. The finish was what I really like in a fine tequila, it left me wanting another sip. it was smooth as silk. The woody presence was faint, just as I like it. I can see how someone would say it lacks some body to it, but for me, this was a great reposado. And I WILL be getting another bottle.

A good, clean reposado. Fairly sweet, smooth, but with little body and depth. Makes a good sipping tequila for someone looking for a softer product.
