Tequila 7 Leguas Blanco

Tequila 7 Leguas Blanco - Brilliant, luminous silvery hues, a powerful body. Enjoy the nuances of perfect distillation, leaving a trail of subtle aromas which build up to the final enjoyment of slowly-cooked agave.

One of the oldest distilleries in Mexico, Casa Siete Leguas has more than fifty years of experience in the making of tequila by means of a traditional process delivering full-bodied, high-quality spirits of refined flavor. Tequila Siete Leguas is steeped in heritage and tradition, and consists of a Blanco, a Reposado, an Añejo and a D'Antaño, all made of 100% Tequilana Weber Agave. The D'Antaño is aged up to five years. This tequila carries the name of Pancho Villa's famous horse.

Silver-gray colour and moderate viscosity. Deep rich agave, herbal and mineral nose with little alcohol presence. Initially sweet strong agave - traces of spice and mint in a full and luscious body. Finishes with a mild bitterness, strong agave and a long minty aftertaste. Classy, refreshing and unpretentious, this is a very fine artesanal blanco.

I had an opportunity to compare side-by-side the Mexican product against its American export version. The Mexican blanco has deeper herbals in the nose - is sharper and slightly more acidic but a tastier presentation overall. The export product offers softer, milder characteristics. These differences could be attributed to different lots, but my clear preference is the Mexican.

Tasted at home in white wine flute. Pleasantly dirty, earthy, agave nose.

Very good. Smooth. Pepper finish. Scott detects assy finish.Somewhat piny. Dry, mineraly, slight black pepper taste. Plenty of agave presence. Smooth, if uninteresting finish.

The creator of this tequila is rumored to be the same Master Distiller as the original Patron tequila. When Patron was bought, and moved to the states, the master distiller stayed behind, and opened this distillery

Very good, solid Blanco. Love the smooth finish... Top 5 on my list.

Tasted in a caballito on June 2, 2008.

Siete Leguas Blanco

Color: clear
Aroma: grass & agave
Taste: light on the tongue with the taste of earth and faint pepper finishing very smooth

This is a blanco that has moved into my top five. It is too bad I have to travel out of state to purchase. Chinaco, Siete Leguas, Corralejo and Milagro are my current top blanco picks as of the writing of this review

7 Leguas is one of my favorite blancos. In my humble opinion, it has alot of depth to it from the aroma to the finish. Truly a classic.

Aroma: I detected intense floral and earth with hints of mild smoke.
Initial taste:Intense earth and lots of agave
Body: followed by continued agave with slight floral and citrus
Finish: For me, a long duration with the agave and mild smoke taste fading out nicely.

Presentation has nothing to do with the taste, but 7 Leguas comes very nicely packaged.
