Tequila 7 Leguas Blanco

Tequila 7 Leguas Blanco - Brilliant, luminous silvery hues, a powerful body. Enjoy the nuances of perfect distillation, leaving a trail of subtle aromas which build up to the final enjoyment of slowly-cooked agave.

One of the oldest distilleries in Mexico, Casa Siete Leguas has more than fifty years of experience in the making of tequila by means of a traditional process delivering full-bodied, high-quality spirits of refined flavor. Tequila Siete Leguas is steeped in heritage and tradition, and consists of a Blanco, a Reposado, an Añejo and a D'Antaño, all made of 100% Tequilana Weber Agave. The D'Antaño is aged up to five years. This tequila carries the name of Pancho Villa's famous horse.

History: The Tequila Siete Leguas distillery was responsible for producing the "original" Patron Tequila brand, and brand rights were sold to St. Maarten Spirits, owners John Paul DeJoria (Paul Mitchell Hair Products) and Martin Crowley in 1989. As the brand grew, Tequila Siete Leguas was no longer able to keep up with production, and Patron built a new distillery and moved all production in 2002.

Been buying this label for a some time now. I enjoy
this blanco of all. Good flavor, smooth and a great
price. Works well in mix drinks as well.

Silver-gray colour and moderate viscosity. Deep rich agave, herbal and mineral nose with little alcohol presence. Initially sweet strong agave - traces of spice and mint in a full and luscious body. Finishes with a mild bitterness, strong agave and a long minty aftertaste. Classy, refreshing and unpretentious, this is a very fine artesanal blanco.

I had an opportunity to compare side-by-side the Mexican product against its American export version. The Mexican blanco has deeper herbals in the nose - is sharper and slightly more acidic but a tastier presentation overall. The export product offers softer, milder characteristics. These differences could be attributed to different lots, but my clear preference is the Mexican.

Tasted at home in white wine flute. Pleasantly dirty, earthy, agave nose.

Very good. Smooth. Pepper finish. Scott detects assy finish.Somewhat piny. Dry, mineraly, slight black pepper taste. Plenty of agave presence. Smooth, if uninteresting finish.
