Sniff: Light & Smooth
Sip: Very smooth, maybe too smooth? Good intro to tequila sipping.
After: Long & pleasant, with a touch of charcoal at the very end.

Overall: A fine tequila to have on hand for those who have never sipped a tequila.

Smell is spicy and a little smokey. Just not a great anejo overall. Not terrible, but really not good either. Tastes similar to a lot of reposado's to me in that I don't really enjoy the wood flavor as it's more like a "wood flavored liquer" to me than a softened agave liquor. Not sure if that makes sense or not, but that's the best way I know how to explain it.

Bottom line: even for the money this isn't a great anejo. It's a step above Jose Cuervo gold, but that's about the biggest compliment I can give it.

Nose suggests nuts & spice, sweet but faint agave -medium body offers a flash of sweetness, but gives way immediately to a persistent bitterness. There is a hint of smoke and agave, but the bitterness overwhelms all. Fade is long with a sharp alcohol bite. It fails to invite a second taste.
Package is attractive and certainly promises better, but overall, this offering from Cuervo lacks character and definition. I would never, never offer it to a guest. The bottle was a gift - I'm not sure what to do with it now.
