Default Pink Taco LA tequila tasting

I just got an email letting me know of a tasting at the Pink Taco in LA.

Tequila and Cigar tasting
Tuesday July 21st, 7-10pm
Featuring Herradura and El Jimador
Paired with authentic Mexican hors d'oeuvres and hand rolled cigars
$30, RSVP by emailing rsvp@pinktaco.com

Compared to the other events I've read on here, doesn't sound as exciting, but perhaps it might. Enjoy

Tequila and cigars? Would that work? I figured tequila would be too light for that. But, still, if I was in Cali, I'd be there, at least to try it once.

I need to make a trip to Pink Taco as I have never been, but I am not too interested in cigars. While weeknights at that end of town don't usually work well for me if I did make it I would gladly trade my cigars for someone's tequila.

All I can say bankerjoe is.....tequila & cigars are a match made in heaven! If you are into cigars, try sipping on the more smokier anejos. These tend to hold up to the richness of the cigar. Almost any quality 100% aged tequila will do. If you want a real treat, try a snifter of Casa Noble Anejo with a premium cigar....outrageous! Even certain reposados match very well ie: Herradura, Corzo, El Tesoro to name a few. Personally I find blancos just a little to light paired with cigars however, I can't say I haven't tried it. Oh and by the way, I reserve my cigar smoking to only one, maybe two a week usually on weekends.

Like I said I will try anything once. I too usually leave my cigar smoking (or pipe) to weekends.

Hey bankerjoe, I just noticed that your from Philly. I used to live over the bridge in NJ and would travel to Philly on occasion for business. I was wondering if you have had a chance to try Tequilas Restaurant on Locust St.? I love that place for the fantastic authentic Mexican cuisine as well as the outstanding tequila selection. The decor is fabulous as well. I wish they could open one down here in Fla.! It would also be nice if they could open a Pat's or Geno's as well. I could use a "real " Philly cheesesteak.....not the fake ones they serve down here!

I've always enjoyed the food at Pink Taco. Been going to the Vegas one ever since it opened. Made it to the LA one and visited the Scottsdale one luckily before they closed it. It's not super Mexican, but one of my fav dishes is the watermelon BBQ ribs. Ribs cooked in a sweet watermelon sauce. Sounds weird, usually I don't care for watermelon, but this sauce is wonderful! Think I was told once they make it from the watermelon rinds. Either way it's good. The Hard Rock Cafes used to carry this, but no more, and PT seems to be the only place I've found this recipe. It is worth a try, if not for the drinks and tequila.

My wife is from Philly, and one of my best friends, who happens to be her brother in law also grew up in Philly. He moved to Tampa for work, and said there is a place down there that the guy gets his bread brought in from Philly for his cheesesteaks. Ill try and get the name of the place for you.

Yeah I'd appreciate that! They have a place here named LaSpada's that was pretty good but then they changed owners and I've heard that it's not as good anymore. Anyway I guess we'll have to start a new "Philly Chesesteak Thread"!
