In our travels through Europe, my partner and I found a great little tequila bar in Amsterdam, Los Pilones. Los Pilones is a quaint Mexican cantina situated near the Leidseplein in the city center of Amsterdam. They have very good mexican food and an excellent array of tequilas. They probably have around 100 different types to choose from, all varying in price and flavors. After nearly a year traveling in Europe, this was the best tequila selection I found anywhere. The owners are friendly and quite knowledgeable about tequilas. When I was there last, they were in fact nearing the final stages of launching their own brand of tequila, "Los Pilones". They have two locations now in Amsterdam, the other in the Jordaan district. This location has a different range of tequilas and is a very nice and different layout from the other location. Both of them are nicely decked out and I was happy going to either one. They only open at 4pm for the evenings, no lunch service. So for dinner, I recommend reservations. Both locations are not that big and no matter what time of the week I was there, they always filled up every night. For those of you who are gluttons, try the Choriqueso. Essentially a bowl of melted cheese with choriso sausage bits all throughout. Served with tortillas. One of the best things I've had in my life!!! So if you're traveling through Amsterdam, try to stop in this place. It's worth it.
