Default Cozumel, Mexico

There are tons of Mexican food restaurants in Cozumel offering the typical 10 brands of Tequila. Then you have the Tequileria on the main drag just off the cruise ship dock, where prices are approx. 10% higher than what they cost here in the US.

Then there is the supplier/distributor for most of the restaurants and bars in Cozumel. They have great deals, and that is definitely where you want to stock up. Prices there were about half of what they are in the US. The name is Pipo Y Cia, don't let the cabbies talk you into anywhere else.

And now to the 1.5oz Tequila Lounge. I was pretty excited to see that there was a trendy Tequila Lounge 2 blocks from my condo, but after one night in there I had had enough. A terrible selection of Tequila, with a few nice (empty) display bottles. And I was the only person in there on a Friday night.

Default Re: Cozumel, Mexico

i'm so glad i joined this forum ,i'm actually going out to cozumel the week of 3/5/07, and was anticipating a good distributor, with good prices,i was fortunate enough to get a bottle of the rare "la fogata" dona carlota tequila at ,of all places a souvenir shop there on the strip last year, and considering how rare it is to find something like that, 50.00 bucks was a steal for me. So this Pipo y Cia will have what i want, i kinda hope i find more of the stuff that i just can't get around here... if there is any other places you can think of that i can visit please reply.... thanks

Great mexican food and seafood places all over. One of my favorite places to eat is the Frech Quarter. They have canadian beef, so it is safe to order some meat. Good fresh catch specials everyday.

Other than that, not really any tequila bars worth noting. Go to Pipo the first day and ask them to photocopy their tequila list without pricing, as they don't want that info out on the street. And you can buy a bottle or 2 to sip on while you're there.

I bought a bottle of Gran Centenario Repo 1L for $18 and a bottle of Clase Azul repo for $50. Palomas and snifters all week.
