Well, my wonderful wife has found me another wonderful Tequila Bar........this time in Philadelphia.
The name is Los Catrines Tequilas Resturant. Address: 1602 Locust St. Philadelphia, Ph. 215-546-0181.
This place is very up scale and offers over a 100 different tequilas. They have samplings from Blancos, Reposado's, Anejo's and even Premium Anejos. Don, the head bartender is very knowledgable about Tequila and is a joy to talk with.
I was lucky enough to meet and talk with the owner of the restaurant, David Suro-Piners. The best part of speaking with David was, David introduced me to his own Brand of Tequila, called Siembra Azul Tequila....www.siembraazul.com. The Tequila is avilable in Blanco and Reposado right now and the Anejo is about 3 or 4 months away. The bad news is, the tequila is only sold in about 6 states on the East Coast and the production is limited to 10,000 cases a year. I tried both the Blanco and the Reposado, both tequilas were excellent and I think I have found a new favorite in the Repsados. In fact, the Reposado was awarded best new Reposado on the East Coast. I picked up a bottle of each while in Philly and paid $33 for the Blanco and $38 for the Reposado.
All I can say is that this is a must go to if you are ever in Philadelphia and it is a must to try and find a bottle if Siembra Azul Tequila

i agree, awesome review, wow of all places, philadelphia, wouldn't expect a tequila bar their, but then again nothing surprises me noww, with all the hype surrounding tequila, it's about time....

The Siembra Reposado is aged 3 to 6 months in new white oak barrels. The color is pale yellow and has an aroma of oak, floral and spice. The reposado is a smooth reposado with a prevalent oak taste to begin with and then you get the flavors of the spices and the agave.

The Blanco has a more noticable aroma of agave and alcohol. I am not a big Blanco drinker, but I must say that I did enjoy this blanco, it did not have the bite or burning after taste, that I have experinenced in other Blancos. This Blanco you able to enjoy.

I was told by Dave the owner that these Tequilas are "Organic" and although Mexico does not recognise the disignation of "Organic" they were able to get some part of the industry to to notice there practices.....sorry that I did not get more details, but I was already in about 4 drinks when I started to talk with Dave.

I hope this review does justice to this tequila, I realize we all have different tastes and smells, but I think you realize by my comments that I feel this is a nice new addition to the tequila market.
