Default Glider (sailplane)

I'm heading to Colorado at the end of June for a vacation me and my girl have been planning now for almost 2 years, haha. We deserve it! I'm looking for activities in the area to keep us busy and have fun. I looked up Helicopter rides and when I saw 900.00 I decided very quickly no to that, and 600.00 for a Hot Air Balloon Ride for 3 hours for 2 people. That is very outrageous so I did some more digging and found something about Mile High Gliding Adventures. Supposedly they tow you up in a glider with a professional pilot, then off comes the hook and I guess glide around for about an hour. Its only 230.00 for 2 people so I was wondering if anyone has done that. I'm looking for a thrill and although I'm deathly terrified of heights, I'm going to try and overcome that. Has anyone ever ridden in a sailplane/glider?

Any other suggestions would be great too...I know ATV's, rafting....etc sound fun! We will be in the Winter Park area.

bno87, I have sailplaned in Hawaii and over in Europe, there is nothing else like it. It is a very quite and peaceful experience and I would imagine that the scenery in Colorado would be breath taking. Hot air ballons are fun, but a bit boring after awhile. Helicopters are awesome, but some people get sick and they can be some what dangerous, so do your home work on the company providing the flight. I would say you would get a wonderful adventure for the money with the glider.

I agree with blagave, the glider ride would be well worth $230, especially compared to the other options you listed. The ATV's would be fun, and there are tons of trails in WP to mountain bike on, even the ski slopes are open to mountain bikers if you want to do some extreme downhill. WP is close to Vail, Morrison (red rocks amphitheater), and Denver, so you should be able to find plenty to do.

Thanks yall, we are stoked...probably will be Gliding our first day, sightseeing the next, whitewater rafting the third day and probably ATV's on the 4th day. Of course, I'm sure my lady will manage to fit shopping in each day ....I want to get an oppurtunity to come say hello Mr. A and sip some tequila at a bar around the area so keep in touch!
