Default Tres Alegres Compadres Blanco?

Just wondering if anyone out there has tried a tequila called Tres Alegres Compadres Blanco? Translation: Three Happy Friends based on an old black & white 1951 mexican film, comedy, musical. Yesterday I was shopping in my favorite local tequila store and came across a one liter plain labled bottle priced at $8.99. I carefully read the label and it was marked 100% Blue Weber Agave NOM 1137 produced by Cofradia. It had a "Dare to Compare" tag hanging from the bottle neck that read (condensed version): "We invite you to compare our 100% Blue agave Tequila with other fine tequilas costing $20 to $40 more per bottle. We believe that you will find our fine tequila ranks among the best Mexico has to offer. Our goal is to provide our customers with the best tequila at the lowest possible price" etc. Although very skeptical, I figured at $8.99 it was worth the risk so I grabbed a bottle and took it home. My wife & I along with two friends had an impromptu tasting at my Tequila Bar last night. We tried to put out of our minds the fact that it was such an inexpensive tequila. We first sampled it neat and all of us were very pleasantly suprised at how nice the agave flavor came through and how smooth it finished. We then mixed it in a fresh Margarita and it was very flavorful. Next up was a fresh Paloma and it held up nicely as well. Then the true test! As I sit here typing this on the morning after..NO HANGOVER!! Since I frequently entertain large parties I may have just discovered a new "well" tequila. At that price I will be able to serve a premium Margarita using 100% Blue Agave Tequila without breaking the bank. I don't know if the price was marked this low as part of an introductory or not but I am sure that I will be going back to pick up at least a few more bottles. I searched the NOM database and did not find this particular brand on Cofradia's listings. I did however find the Tre Alegres Compadres Reposado on their website. Has anyone else ever tried this blanco? If so I would be interested to hear feedback. Thanks!

I haven't tried this brand, but 100% at $8.99 is tough to beat. Nice find.

It's double the price at some online stores. Good find, indeed. Can you PM the store where you found it. Wes

Hi Wes! When you come down to Florida, from where you will be staying, all you have to do is cut across to St. Pete Beach and go to Norman's Liquors on Gulf Blvd. I believe that I already sent you the address. When you go in, ask for one of the owners named Dolly. She usually works behind the counter and although she doesn't know my name she calls me the Tequila Man. I've spent a ton of $$$ in there so mention to her that I sent you in! That is where you will find the Tres Alegres Compadres Blanco for $8.99. I was just there last Sat. and picked up a couple more bottles. She told me that there weren't any plans to raise the price. I have her looking into stocking in more brands of tequila. She is presently trying to find me Clase Azul, 4 Copas & 1921 Creme de Tequila. Good Luck!

I can buy it at the Albertsons for the same price and I have over 20 bottles. I also use it for margaritas and entertaining. For my personal margaritas I still use ET Platinum which I get for $28.... Tres Alegres Compadres makes great margaritas and does not leave with any hangover!!!

Margarita
2.5 oz. tequila
1 oz. Coiintreau or Citronge
2 Squeezed limes (smooth and shiny)
1 teaspoon agave nectar

Thumbs up What a coincidence..

I just logged in this morning to rave about what a bargain is Tres Alegres Compadres - Blanco.
A local liquor store by my office sells it for $10.99. I love finding bargains like these. Reminds me of a Single Malt Scotch I found at the same store called, Lismore. Was so good I wrote about it: Single Malt Scotch | Product Review Ratings (PRR)

I will have to do a little write-up on Tres Alegres. It is a great way to make inexpensive Margs taste like they were made with the good stuff. .. and it's not a bad sipping tequila either!

Default By the way

I'm glad it's not just me. I will continue to buy this as my every day tequila.
Sometimes I wonder if I get too excited about these bargain liquors.

Wink Tres Alegres Compadres Blanco

It's okay to get excited about any great agave deal! That's how I felt when I first started the post in regards to the Tres Alegres Blanco which I stumbled upon right before Christmas. My local retailer already told me that even if the price went up she would still honor the $8.99 per liter price that I pay now. I guess that's because she appreciates all of the other premium tequila purchases I make at her store. It's a real nice 100% for that price and all of my friends that I have served margaritas to have really enjoyed it. Hey, in this economy I'll take any bargain I can find!

Question

I have 3 bottles of the same product, "Tres Alegres Compadres" that I recently picked up, but are not 100% agave and after reading this Thread I decided to try it just to find out how it stood up as a Mixto. This Tequila doesnt taste at all, like a 100% agave or atleast a Mixto.....................When I first opened it , I thougth I should let it sit open for some time but No difference. So I was wondering if anybody has ever tried the Mixto version and if so Can you comment on how it was
thank you in advance
