Default Chilled vs Room Temp ?

Do any members here drink any certain brands chilled instead of room temperature? I had a bottle of Cazadores reposado that was ok but drinking it chilled tastes completely different to me. The chilled version had less bite and seemed lighter in taste. Does the chilling keep the alcohol fumes from rising or what?

And do you have any advice for dried out corks? Do you just cover the top with plastic wrap?

I ordered a shot of Chinaco Anejo "neat" the other day and they still brought it chilled. These young servers just don't know what "neat" means anymore. Usually I will throw in "unchilled, no ice" just to be sure. I feel like a snob ordering but then again, it's worse when I have to send it back.

I know what you mean. I am a fan of room temperature and thankfully haven't gotten any tequila served chilled - yet.

I am usually the complicated one when ordering drinks as I do my best to get a side of Sangrita based on a recipe card I carry in my wallet. It's amazing either how busy bartenders must be or how poorly they can read.

The other day I went by my friends house. A couple months ago I got him into tequila and he really enjoys buying premiums and trying them out. But when he showed me the new stuff he got, it was in the freezer! A bottle of Casa Noble Anejo and a bottle of Cielo Blanco in the freezer! I didnt question his motives though, if thats how he enjoys it then more power to him, but I cant do it with my own. I've already told him a long time ago I think its best at room temp...but he also enjoys Patron Silver still so I guess you can just say hes stubborn.

I was in a bit of awe but did try the Cielo (good stuff but probably would have been much better at room temp).

Funny this comes up just now.

Check the name change. :P

When I first started in with the cactus juice I was a big fan of ice cold Tequila, but once I started getting into the more premium labels I found them to be much more interesting at room temperature. I guess the freezer mellows poor quality juice enough to get it on the drinkable side of okay.

Besides, now the bar is just that much closer.

I'm not a chiller, but have tried a few brands from the freezer.

Cork issues, use a spare bottle if you have one, or wrap the cork with saran wrap (a neat trick shown by Ron Cooper).

Sorry to say, I enjoy refrigerated Don Julio Anejo. :-\
I would say that the majority of the time, I drink at room temperature, but after working outside or when it is hot out......a nice cold tequila goes down nicely. I do agree that the coldness takes away from the over all taste, but it is stil Bueno

Reading the comments got me to thinking.... Does Patron get "drinkable" cold? It sure could help use up the bottles I have, freeing space for some other fun ones.
