I dont know if the climate in my area will help an agave plant grow but it cant be much different in Texas than it is in Jalisco....Hot and dry....
BUT I would love to try and purchase a couple young agave plants if you know where it would be possible to do so. I did a few searches in hopes of finding some Blue agave but dont know the "technical" term for the plant. I found Agave Sisalana, Agave Attenuata, Agave Scabra, Agave Murpheyi (which resembled a blue agave), Agave Americanus Medio Picta Alba, Agave Colorata Mescal Ceniza....etc What should I be looking for and at what price? Maybe 10 years after I have my plant, I could become more familar with a distillery...I'll cut my own Pina and take it down to make some tequila haha.....I did find these.... http://www.bouncingbearbotanicals.co...ave-p-396.html - I thought it was Blue Weber Agave but I didnt want to be wrong....Variegated Tequila Agave Plant $25.00 (what the heck is that?)

NEW! WE HAVE A LIMITED NUMBER OF YELLOW-STRIPED VARIEGATED TEQUILA AGAVES AVAILABLE. THESE ARE VERY RARE. 8-12 Inch plants for $25. Leaf pictured at left.
Would these still be good? I didnt purchase any yet but making plans. I just didnt understand what a yellow-striped variegated tequila agave is.... Rosco, what are your plans after you grow them to maturity?

Not sure, for one, I just don't think they would make good tequila, even with the smuggled soil, you just can't duplicate the ideal conditions that it takes to make a good plant for Tequila, so I'll probably let the bigger one grow to it's full 10 year span, and pull it out and cut like a true jimador would... I've got all the tools that i recieved from the Centinela distillery when I visited, so I think I'll try my hand at cutting one, what the heck I've got plenty of time to practice, it's got plenty of time to grow. Pepe is having a coa made for me with my name stamped on the handle, so that would be the oportune time to try it on "Gaviota" (my agave's name).

Some people say 'In another life, I would have been a rock star, or a movie star' BLAH BLAH BLAH.
In my other life, I would have been born in Mexico, and worked in the tequila industry. Preferably as a Jimador for as many years as possible.
