I got reposado to sort of try middle of the road. With this tasting I see myself liking repsoados and anejos. In other words it seems to me that silvers would be a bit too "angular" and I'm thinking this and anejos would provide more of the "roundness" to fit my tastes.

Anyway, I just wanted to say thanks to all and let you know you have a new member in your ranks. Now I'm anxiously awaiting my next trip to Kentucky!
Glad to see that you are enjoying the "rested" version of tequila. I will however strongly recommend that you also sample some of the fantastic silver or "blanco" tequilas that are available. Brands like Fortaleza, Siete Leguas, El Tesoro, to name just a few. IMHO...these unaged versions are the true essence of tequila. Once you savor a great blanco, you can then truly appreciate how that same tequila, in the hands of a skillful master distiller, can then be magically transformed into aged "liquid gold"! Many aficionados will agree that many times the type of mood you are in determines the age of the tequila you will sip. Bottom line...give a blanco a chance before labeling it as "angular". I do not think you will be disappointed! Let us know your thoughts if you do and welcome aboard!

You're where I was about a year ago - Corazon Blanco was the first tequila I had that I considered a step up from the cheaper ones I had tried, and is still among my favorite 5 blancos (in a tie for 5th). Corralejo is another good one in the same price range (around $25-30 for the Blanco).

I actually find that I usually prefer to sip on a blanco and get that pure agave taste, though depends on my mood, there are times when an anejo hits the spot.

El Tesoro
Siete Leguas
Fortaleza
T1
Old Espolon
Casa Noble
1921
Old Chinacos (Robert Denton)

You can't go wrong with the ones above.

Unfortunately I don't find the new Espolon great. I find Corzo to taste like the liquid that typically comes from that bottle - perfume. Asom Broso tastes like skim milk in your bowl after eating Fruitty Pebbles.

Wow - they have Cuervo Platino on sale for $35? That's a great price and an awesome tequila. My second favorite blanco next to casa noble crystal, just edging out Fortaleza and Siete Leguas.

A lot of good recommendations in here. The journey is pretty much the fun. You'll run into some that you don't like and others that you may unexpectedly love.

Like the one other person said, make sure you give them a try more than once. Your subsequent tastes can vary a lot from your first. Have fun.
