Default Molded cork?

Take a look at this picture. Are these white parts normal or some kind of mold?

Never seen anything like that in the end of a cork.

How old is the bottle and has there been some evaporation?

It's from a Patrón Silver bottle. Opened the bottle a couple of days ago, so basically it's straight from the store.

Have you tried scratching at it? Is it grainy like sand? Is it mushy or rubbery? From the picture it almost looks like a putty or filler that may have been applied to fill in the crevices.

the cork is seperating from the adhesives. cheap cork. cheap adhesive.

makes me wonder if the adhesive meets FDA requirements.

The consistency is kinda like plasticine, maybe a little bit harder.

I'd return the bottle, but a fourth of the bottle is already gone.
