Default Agave Nectar

i never that there is an agave nectar used as sweetener. its thick like molasses. apparantly it's four times sweeter than sugar. i was gonna buy some, but thought i'd ask the board first, if anyone has had it. and what a good use for it would be. maybe i can age it in a barrel and make it an anejo nectar.

I know that 4 Copas and Partida both have their own brand of agave nectar out, but neither is available locally in Colorado.

Madhava is the brand I use, which I can find at wild oats market, is 100% organic and makes a killer margarita.

The only margaritas I drink anymore consist of Tequila, lime juice, and agave nectar. You can taste the Tequila, so it is much more enjoyable, and it is nice to change it up with different types of Tequila.

Agave nectar anejo sounds interesting...

yeah, i dont recall brand that i saw. they had two kinds, one was a caramel color, and the other was darker, almost red. the red one was "raw" they were around $5 a bottle. they both were in the "all natural" section of the grocery store i saw them in. what are the parts/proportion of this margarita you speak of?

**i notice i omitted the word "knew" on my first post...my apologizes**

I have used 4copas and Madhava, Molino Real and about 3-4 others. We use it on pancakes, in my coffee and as Mr. A said it makes the ultimate marg.

So far I like the 4copas and Molino Real the best. The four copas is certified organic and there process keeps the necter light and clear.(mixes well) The MR is thinker and darker but you can taste more of the cooked agave in it.

Get some you'll like it. BTW it is reported to have a lower glysimic index then suger.

So depending on the lime, key lime size I would squeeze a whole one, medium to large lime I squeeze half a lime. Not sure what the lime juice measures out to, but you'll know by taste if it is too much or not enough. Then add a shot of your favorite tequila, and 2 teaspoons of agave nectar. Shake and mix with ice, awesome... salt and lime on rim if preferred.

4copas has the best one out there, and it is the best ingredient you possibly put inot a margarita, and actually alot of other tequila drinks, on pancakes?...wow, just gave me an idea, i'll try that tomorrow morning.

I just added both Partida agave nectar and 4 copas nectar to my specialty drink menu, (at the printer).
The partida works great with their anejo and the 4 copas works great with their blanco.

I think the darker ones that are more 'earthy' go well with the reposados and anejos. The 4 copas is so perfect I like to keep it with the blanco. And the thicker, darker ones are best with a touch of water added to smooth them out.
