Default Anyone know what happened to Trago?

Some time ago I bought several bottles from ShoppersVineyard - good deal as I recall - $49.95 for blanco, reposado, and anejo - shipping included. I offered a less-than-flattering review of the blanco, and had some concerns about sediments. A query to the head office about precipitates went unanswered. I used the bottles up eventually, gifts etc.
Recently I travelled up to Calgary from the coast. Calgary has always had great tequila selections and I was looking forward to scoring some goodies, but this time it was a flippin' wasteland. Almost nothing of quality available... only Trago, and everybody was selling it. One place had the price at $117.99 for the anejo! Others wanted only $111.00. This is about eight times what it is worth.
Checking their website it looks like everyone has left town.
Anybody here know what happened?

Wasn't Trago by some of the same folks that make El Tesoro. Never saw Trago around here and I never ordered any, couldn't get past the shampoo bottle, go figure. The ET is scarce here now though.

Don't think so - Trago has NOM 1474 and ET has 1139. Apart from both being in Arandas, I don't believe they have anything in common.

Actually deedub- Trago was distilled at 1139. The NOM *is* 1474, but Felipe Camarena had yet to have his *fabrica* running, so he rented/used La Alteña (owned by his brother Carlos).

More often than not, the NOM designates where the tequila was produced, but not always.

Case in point, after Patron (1492) left 7 leguas (1120), it was made at 1111, but you will NOT find any Patron bottles with NOM 1111.

The bottle I have says 1474. I found this on sale and picked up a bottle of the repo. I love the shampoo bottle shape comparison...very true. And the juice is pretty good IMHO at the price I paid - $32. It's more savory than spicy, and very smooth overall. There is not much burn of any kind, except a slightly delayed clearing of the nasal passages. The flavor is pleasant and has a good bit of character to it. It won't blow you away, but you will find yourself nodding your head in agreement with the taste.

I still have 2 full cases of Trago silver that I purchased from SV when they were down to a handful of cases. Got it for $15.00/bottle, killer deal for shipping. Ended up buying 3 cases. Great gifts and a pretty darned good blanco, really! Kinda wish I would have bought more. That was a steal! It's one of the tequilas I don't mind seeing Sarah use when she mixes up a margarita I know she's getting a killer drink while not draining a bottle of Fortaleza or something of that ilk!
