Default Hola!

Long time browser, first time poster...

I work for a liquor store in Oregon. Tequila is my favorite beverage by far. I'm always looking for tasty, fun and new things to try. Being in a control state is kind of a challenge sometimes as far as pricing and availability is concerned. I think we do fairly well all things considered though.

I'm in need of a new bottle for personal use and having a tough time choosing which should be next. I would love to hear any opinions you fine folks may have..

First option
Tenoch Reposado Tequila

Second
Casa Noble Reposado

Third
El Tesoro Reposado

Tenoch and Casa would run me 63 and 62 respectively, the El Tesoro only about 45. I think I am leaning towards the Tenoch, not only is it the best looking bottle, but we only have three of them left and it took forever to get the order in for it. Any thoughts?

Thanks!
-Adam

My personal opinion would be to go for the Casa Noble or El Tesoro first. Both are excellent.

I agree with Robert, Casa Noble or El Tesoro.

I'm still fairly new here, but have been able to taste several brands, and CNR is my favorite thus far. I find myself comparing everything else to CNR, and after sampling a few new brands, I go back to CNR and say, "Yeah, this stuff is still the mack daddy." Just my two cents.

Greetings, Adam. Welcome to the forums!

I live in Portland, and feel your control state pain. You will want to explore the world of mail order at some point.

Where in the state are you? I do regular tequila tastings and events in Portland, and would be happy to let you try some of my stash.

It's hard to help you decide without knowing your tastes. CNR and ETR are pretty different beasts, and I haven't tried Tenoch. I can definitely see the argument of buying it since you aren't likely to see it again once it sells, but it's a lot to drop on something you've never tasted.

Feel free to PM me. Take care!

Casa Noble or El Tesoro I live in Washington State (9 months of the year) and yes living in a controlled state sucks for both price and selection. Casa Noble anejo is my go to drink. The liquor store in Lincoln City is the best one on the coast the owners are great people enjoy talking with them when we stop by once or twice a year.

Hi Adam,
Living in Oregon does have it's challenges. Taxes and Tequila being two of them. CN is one of my favorites.

Casa Noble Repo is one of my favorites.
Tenoch was OK, though I thought it had a slightly soapy finish.
El Tesoro is considered a standard, but I find it to be exactly that - standard. Its good but it doesnt thrill me.

The same owners of the store in Lincoln City own the one I work at in Salem. I worked in LC from March to June this past year while the Salem store was getting put together. If you are ever in Salem, you'll have to come check us out.. It looks just like LC, but MUCH bigger!

Tequila has been getting better, I'm seeing more and more stuff become available. I've been really trying to grow our selection at the store. The mark-up from the state is all over the place though. Some bottles seem to be on par with other states, whereas others are just absurdly high.

Here in liquor controlled Virginia CN is a special order only item and I do curently have one on order. Normally I order online. I just received my first time order through Wine and Liquor Depot and had a great experience. I would recommend them or Hi-time. To join the chorus CN is also one of my favorites. I remember trying Tenoch. It was enjoyable but non memorable.
