I remember trying this years ago before the concert but can't really remember much else. This new version has light agave and bourbon aroma and flavor with a bit of wood and caramel. I agree with the other review and it has hardly any heat or burn going down. Very enjoyable and a nice cd to jam to attached to the bottle.

The aroma of Roger Clyne's Mexican Moonshine has a nice barrel scent. The first sip disappeared gently and left a slight peppery after taste. The second sip gave me the full body of the tequila which was smooth and really woke up my taste buds. I enjoyed the experience. I have had other reposados that have a fire ending but this tequila did not. The bottle design was well thought out with it having a large base to stand on. This prevents the accidental tip over of which I am guilty of so many times! The bonus is the sampler CD on the bottom of the bottle. I will happily play the CD, pour another round and go with the flow of the moonshine!

I received this as a gift from a friend who bleeds Roger Clyne's music. With an eye roll I immediately thought another half assed celeb tequila idea hatched when bored or hungover. It even has a CD of their music packaged on the bottom of the bottle.
The following day, I called to apologize. This is legit and it's really good.
The nose nor finish are aggressive but there is enough burn to remind you it's tequila. I did some research and found it rests in Kentucky bourbon barrels for 9 months (which is on the long side for repos)and the distillery has very reputable sources for highland and lowland agave. I really like how the clear bottle accents the amber color. It's fairly dark for a repo but once tasted, the oak softens some edges and helps create a very long lasting finish. Personally, I want a long finish on any distilled spirit I enjoy. Why not? Good things in life should last as long as possible!
The distillery also developed a proprietary method of filtering post-distilled toxins before they go down the drain and eventually into the water table. If you've ever been to Tequila, it's a treasure that will hopefully last hundreds of more years. However it won't unless all distilleries commit to better production standards and stop polluting the ground water table.
Part of my apology included going to see Roger Clyne & The Peacemakers in Las Vegas over Labor Day weeekend. The band was as incredible as the tequila... which was flowing all night inside House of Blues. I hear rumors there is a Mexican Moonshine Silver coming out soon... can't wait.

Don't waste it with a mix. Pour it straight, let it breathe and enjoy. We love it because it instantly calms you down and makes you forget whatever was on your mind. It takes us right to the beach, flip flops and all.
