I recently returned from a trip to Jalisco in search of certain tequilas I had not had the opportunity to purchase. My main goal was Rey Sol; for three reasons: (1) I had tried it at Bibliotheca de Tequila in New York and liked it, (2) the bottle was designed by Sergio Bustamante, a Mexican artist my girlfriend admires, and (3) I had been trying to find a bottle to purchase for years. Finally, after visiting Tequila, Arandas, and Jesus Maria - I found one bottle in Atotonilco el Alto. It was only $154.00 US so I jumped at the chance. A six year old tequila is a rare thing and this tequila has a rare flavor. It is dark and thick and sweet and rich. The nose is seductive (for me at least) because there is almost no alcohol odor. I don't know what the sugar content is - but it must be 37-40. I will sip this tequila for several years - probably at the rate of two small glasses each year - on my birthday and New Year's Eve. If you can find this one - don't pass up the chance. It is a great tequila from Acatic in Los Altos.

picked up a bottle of rey sol for $220 and was expecting that sunshine was actually gonna come out of the bottle!!ha ha! well what came out was'nt exactly sunshine, but was very pleasant.lite agave,floral,vanilla/carmel.very lite in the mouth,so lite that i was thinking did i just taste that? so i tasted it again:)
the finish is very smooth with a slow fade.the bottle is a nice touch ,now i see why they used that bottle ,because rey sol was as lite as sunshine.but the cost is hard to accept.still glad i tried it once tho!

Rey Sol Anejo is a solid premium tequila. It starts off with aromas of floral, and vanilla. It is light in the mouth with a moderate amount of sweetness and flavors of vanilla and caramel. It finishes super-smooth with a medium duration of flavor.

The entire time I was drinking the Rey Sol, I was thinking: "This is nice, but there is no wow-factor." Maybe it's because I tried this in the same night that I tried the Chinaco Negro Extra Anejo (which totally blew me away), and I was not blown away by the Rey Sol. But for $50 a shot, I feel like it should be something really special.

If price is never an issue, you will be happy with Rey Sol Anejo. But for $320 a bottle, you can do much better.
