Sampled from a tall shot glass 3/24/10 at home, paid $38.00 locally. The bottle is "catchy" a screw top affair, I pulled a bit until I realized I needed to turn... no tequila either at that point! Light amber in color, no tears, leaves a slow bleed on the glass and will gather to drops if left to settle. The "clump" as I call it is something I don't like to see. IMHO you get the "fast clump" from too much H2O added to an oily anejo. This tequila does not exhibit clumping, this tells me it has been carefully blended and has an attention to detail some higher priced anejo's don't have. Slight alcohol/agave nose very subtle. Very smooth on the way down, does not beg to be held like some others. Has a nice lasting finish that ends with a nice numbing on the tongue and slight pepper taste. I like this anejo because it doesn't try to do too much, it's not a candy bar or some other trendy thing, it's happy to be a good smooth tequila with a subtle bite, just to remind you that this is a tequila. I like it and am happy to have added it to my growing collection.

Tasted out of a snifter. Chaya anejo just isnt one of the better or more memorable tequilas that Ive tried. It leans more towards being a reposado IMHO. Not bad though, a decent price for an anejo, though I don't see myself getting another bottle any time soon. Not 'anejo' enough for me.
Aroma: Spice, and ever so slight fruit.
Initial Taste: A semi bitter entry. A thin mouth feel. First taste was spices.
Body: Spices, earth, very slight vanilla and fruit.
Finish: A slightly bitter finish with heat of medium duration.

Chaya Anejo NOM 1420 Tasted on 8/3/07 at 6:15pm. I tried this bottle at Zocalo, which cost me $10, and tasted it out of a snifter. With a yellow golden color, this tequila has intense aromas of floral and caramel. Other aromas include moderate fruit and earth with mild vanilla and spice. The tequila has a medium oily mouth feel and the first sip is semi sweet with a small hint of bitterness. Chaya Anejo has numerous arrays of flavors. Intense flavors of earth and agave are followed by moderate floral notes. With a medium to long duration of flavor, tastes of mild fruit, vanilla, spice, and caramel bring this tequila to a numbing finish. Chaya Anejo has received the rating of 90/91 points out of 100.

Nothing to special, it was a little too light for an anejo, tasted more like a reposado. There are better light anejos out there than this for those who don't like the heavy oak and caramel. One of my favorites being Fina Estampa Anejo. :)
