Despite the fact that most of you have the day off, I am choose to "work" laboriously to make sure that all of the tequila information searching folks can have some agave related reading. Generally when I write the first draft of a review, it is my first time tasting that particular tequila. However, Tapatío Repsoado I have had it a few times before, but just never put pen to paper. The recent review of the Excelencia made me really want to go back and evaluate the rest of line that I had not yet reviewed. Price: $35-40/bottle Aroma: Lots of the vegetal agave notes that are signature from NOM 1139. Really light barrel sweetness (vanilla) and a hint of oak and smoke as well. The agave is still by far the most present aroma. Initial Taste:Great balance of agave, oak and spice. The light sweetness tastes all natural, not contrived or created by additives. Body: The oak advances to the forefront a bit more along with a peppery agave kick. The balance with the sweetness is great and the natural/green flavor is still very present. Finish: A very long, spicy and pepper-filled finish. There's a hint of bitterness from the oak, but the vegetal pepper is what lingers on the palate the longest. This is a wonderfully balanced repo at a non-premium price. A full liter for under $35 is great value for a juice of this caliber. This is not a "sweet" reposado. The agave notes are the most present with just a kiss from the barrel. Very balance, spicy and delicious. ]]> Mon, 02 Sep 2013 02:11:08 +0000 <![CDATA[Tapatio Tequila Reposado: ]]> https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/reposados/discussions/review.html?id=2920 https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/reposados/discussions/review.html?id=2920 My second review of the Tapatio line. Agave, wood and vanilla on the nose. Same on the initial taste, along with a slight peppery kick. Delicious. Oily enough to coat the mouth nicely. Medium length finish that mirrors the initial taste; agave, vanilla and wood. Two for two so far from Tapatio. A really nice Reposado. ]]> Sun, 23 Jun 2013 01:12:18 +0000
