Taste is very smooth, bringing to life the sweet nose, add to it a touch of wood, a whisper of smoke, and a soupçon of cinnamon somewhere. Light-spice finish. Very delicious. An excellent tequila to introduce to friends who've never had any of the good stuff. But don't be surprised if they begin a torrid love affair with DJ repo, only to inevitably leave it for something more bold and complex. ]]> Sun, 07 Jul 2013 13:56:46 +0000 <![CDATA[Don Julio Tequila Reposado: ]]> https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/reposados/discussions/review.html?id=2894 https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/reposados/discussions/review.html?id=2894 I've always enjoyed Don Julio anejo, but I'm more of a reposado drinker, so this was a natural. It has the same sweet agave character and smoothness of the anejo, but slightly less of the brandy-like qualities that most anejos exhibit. It's not a great value, because the DJ offerings tend to be pricey, but for one of the best tequilas on the market, that's to be expected. Enthusiastically recommended. ]]> Thu, 06 Jun 2013 23:01:47 +0000 <![CDATA[Don Julio Tequila Reposado: ]]> https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/reposados/discussions/review.html?id=2722 https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/reposados/discussions/review.html?id=2722 This is a really good tequila, one of my favorites. Goes down nice and has a good aftertaste. ]]> Thu, 08 Nov 2012 01:35:13 +0000 <![CDATA[Don Julio Tequila Reposado: ]]> https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/reposados/discussions/review.html?id=2546 https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/reposados/discussions/review.html?id=2546 This is my favourite reposado to date, and easily one of my favourite tequilas over all (I actually prefer it to the 1942). The aroma is filled with agave, vanilla and the right amount of spice and the finish is an excellent balance between the mellowness introduces by the aging and the spice of the agave. A really solid tequila. ]]> Thu, 28 Jun 2012 17:48:59 +0000 <![CDATA[Don Julio Tequila Reposado: ]]> https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/reposados/discussions/review.html?id=2388 https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/reposados/discussions/review.html?id=2388 I can't believe that it's taken me this long to try this tequila. I like the blanco and the anejo and 1942 are two of my favorites. It was worth the wait. Aroma: Agave, vanilla, spice and light wood. Initial Taste: Patented Don Julio sweetness. Just a bit of spice to go along with it. Body: Light wood notes, vanilla and cinnamon. Finish: This is why I love reposados. They give you the smoothness of the aging, but still include the peppery spice of agave. This one's finish last a decent time with a nice combo of both. Don Julio is probably my 2nd favorite premium tequila line (behind Corrido). This tequila does exactly what a good reposado should. You should expect no less from a great brand like Don Julio. ]]> Wed, 28 Mar 2012 03:31:13 +0000 <![CDATA[Don Julio Tequila Reposado: ]]> https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/reposados/discussions/review.html?id=1835 https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/reposados/discussions/review.html?id=1835 I was going somewhere through JFK a few years back and I got those 2 bottles on special in Duty Free for $80. That was a pretty damn good Tequila I have to say. I think $40 is the right price and I'd buy it whenever I want a good drink but I don't think you can buy it for 40 buckeros just anywhere. ]]> Sun, 20 Feb 2011 01:31:42 +0000 <![CDATA[Don Julio Tequila Reposado: ]]> https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/reposados/discussions/review.html?id=1725 https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/reposados/discussions/review.html?id=1725 A very impressive Reposado, this is one of those few times a big name tequila puts out a quality product for the money ]]> Sat, 30 Oct 2010 21:01:44 +0000 <![CDATA[Don Julio Tequila Reposado: ]]> https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/reposados/discussions/review.html?id=1510 https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/reposados/discussions/review.html?id=1510 I like the finish taste. A pale golden color. First nose was very unique. A mild kind of sweet oats smell which was very inviting and unusual. First taste was very much in line with the nose and almost a duplicate which is kind of rare to me. Musky and heavy with chocolate and vanilla elements. A nice warm medium body of balanced agave and alcohol tingle. This tequila has a very nice complimenting nose and taste that invites you to take that next sip. An excellent body and smoothness that leaves a slightly bitter aftertaste on the tongue. A medium duration finish with cinnamon toast and oak. Overall a very pleasant tasting which was satisfying but still more middle of the road than top of the line. It's steady and consistant which is not a bad thing but lends itself to being a bit uniform. The finish was the winner here smoothness a close second. ]]> Thu, 04 Jun 2009 21:40:17 +0000 <![CDATA[Don Julio Tequila Reposado: ]]> https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/reposados/discussions/review.html?id=679 https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/reposados/discussions/review.html?id=679 tasted 07/06/08 out of a old fashioned double ball glass. being a true blanco lover, I was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked this repo. It wasn't too woody, as I get an ill feeling when there is too much wood. Aroma: A nice agave nose with hints of cinnamon and earth. Initial taste: This is where I usually cringe if it's too woody. Inital taste was sweet with no bitterness. Body: Thin mouth feel with a very pleasant agave complimented softly by wood and cinnamon. Finish: Of medium duration with no alcohol burn. ]]> Wed, 09 Jul 2008 19:04:05 +0000 <![CDATA[Don Julio Tequila Reposado: ]]> https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/reposados/discussions/review.html?id=509 https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/reposados/discussions/review.html?id=509 Don Julio Tequila Reposado, NOM 1449. Pale amber color, nice long legs with a wonderful sweet agave & vanilla nose. The initial taste is earthy with a nice oakiness developing into a complex, floral aftertaste. This medium bodied spirit has a myriad of flavors such as caramel, chocolate, oak, orange, & vanilla which finishes by dancing across the tongue & exiting with the same agave sweetness it started with. The smoothness of this exceptional tequila continues throughout the entire tasting experience with absolutely no taste of alcohol. Needless to say I was very impressed with this reposado & it will always have a place on my shelf. A/A+. Top shelf. ]]> Mon, 17 Mar 2008 04:08:59 +0000 <![CDATA[Don Julio Tequila Reposado: ]]> https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/reposados/discussions/review.html?id=189 https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/reposados/discussions/review.html?id=189 Don Julio Reposado NOM 1449 Tasted 2/19/07. The tequila is a pale yellow color and has an intense floral and earthy aroma. Once you get past the intensity of the nose, you can smell moderate notes of caramel and fruit. On the tip of the tongue the tequila is mellow and soft with a light intensity of taste but yet has a medium feel in the mouth. While the tequila has a low bitterness, it is fairly sweet. The flavor has intense earth which is followed by moderate agave, fruit, caramel, and floral. The tequilas finish is a medium duration of flavor followed by a slightly numbing alcohol feeling. Overall, I rated this tequila at the A level. ]]> Sun, 27 May 2007 17:51:54 +0000
