Oh Patron one of if not the most polarizing tequilas on the market. I'm not going to bash this like others do. I'm smart enough to recognize what purpose this dryness and it does very well. Myself and I'm sure others cut there teeth on Patron. I being an avid scotch/bourbon guy stayed clear of the stuff after hearing the stereotypical horror stories of tequila. Until this past 4th of July when my tequila drinking (taking shots of Patron lol) aunt talked me into shooting the stuff all night. Smell there is hardly any maybe slight agave. Taste slight rubber grassy clean and crisp. Here's where I think Patron ropes the non tequila drinkers in, little burn and smooth going down. This is why I rated Patron 100 for enjoyability. From this experience not only did my aunt get me to do and continue to do shots with here she got my wife to do it too which never happens we had a great night that night. There have been other parties and bars I've been to where Patron was involved all were great nights. It gets people to drink together and have a good time and I'm all about that. You can argue to someone until your facE turns red that Patron sucks, but good luck getting them to drink what your are unless they are extremely open minded. Plus it's a good intro tequila to where if you have friends who are willing to branch out can stay here. Bad, good, great? Good for me. Great for get togethers and go times. ]]> Mon, 13 Oct 2014 19:34:13 +0000 <![CDATA[Patron Tequila Silver: NOT a bad Tequila as some like to think.]]> https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/blancos/discussions/review.html?id=3285 https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/blancos/discussions/review.html?id=3285 It's popular to knock it, but it tastes nice and is an enjoyable sipper. It may have added agave nectar as some think, but the taste is pleasant and better than many,(comparably priced) tequilas. Yes the price is ridiculous but besides respecting it for starting the recent tequila revolution for many many people, it truly is not bad. The nose is tangy, floral and sweet, with a touch of pepper and spice. It has medium oil, hot, spicy, like many quality blanco's. Although it's hot at times, it is also smooth. The flavors finish nicely with spice and some heat.- Long Island Lou ]]> Thu, 17 Jul 2014 04:06:04 +0000 <![CDATA[Patron Tequila Silver: My first tequila]]> https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/blancos/discussions/review.html?id=3122 https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/blancos/discussions/review.html?id=3122 This was my first tequila years ago. New to the tequila world I thought it was expensive compared to what I had been drinking. I made terrible drinks with it due to my inexperience but often enjoyed it neat. This tequila is popular and got my drinking tequila but did not kick my obsession into what it is now. ]]> Mon, 02 Dec 2013 02:14:11 +0000 <![CDATA[Patron Tequila Silver: For the uninitiated]]> https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/blancos/discussions/review.html?id=2968 https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/blancos/discussions/review.html?id=2968 A good starter tequila, especially for the I-don't-drink-tequila crowd. Converts many of the wary. Great marketing and presentation, but underwhelming nose, body, finish, and price. You are paying for a label and a massive ad budget, rather than true quality. I don't hate Patron. Actually, I love it, because it introduced me to a spirit that I love. But, I have moved on, as my palette has become more sophisticated. There are far better values and experiences to be had. ]]> Fri, 19 Jul 2013 20:04:36 +0000 <![CDATA[Patron Tequila Silver: ]]> https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/blancos/discussions/review.html?id=2821 https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/blancos/discussions/review.html?id=2821 Aroma: Citrus, alcohol, tiny bit of agave. Taste/Body: Watery body with not much going on besides alcohol and a little citrus. Not much agave going on. Finish: Quick heat that disappears immediately. Slight tingle on the tongue and lips. In Iowa Patron Silver retails at $50 making it highly overpriced for what you get. Probably because I've had it so many times that I just know what to expect...and that's exactly what it delivers. Aroma - Not much to it. Slight alcohol scent, but pleasant. Taste - There is a very light agave taste. Body - Thin. Finish - Easy, smooth and not much to it. Very easy to drink. Price - At $29.99 at Costco and a lot of other stores on sale, it's an easy tequila to get, mix and is affordable. As with all of the Patron types, the bottle is very nice. ]]> Tue, 17 Jan 2012 19:09:14 +0000 <![CDATA[Patron Tequila Silver: ]]> https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/blancos/discussions/review.html?id=1940 https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/blancos/discussions/review.html?id=1940 Patron Blanco is a decent tequila and I'll credit it for leading me to enjoy tequila after my initial poor experiences. I would also agree with the other reviewer here that Patron Tequila is overrated. After taking several weeks to finish a pint I was very disappointed and completely under-impressed. The initial taste is clean and fairly smooth but that is the only positive point I can give this tequila. I have sampled various other premium and non-premium Tequilas and this stuff does not live up to its reputation. For me, the finish was by far the worst part of the experience and terrible. My overall impression was an overwhelming prolonged alcohol burn with an unpleasant bitter aftertaste. I was expecting something very smooth and fairly mild based on other reviews and hype, but this is not even close. Again, I gave Patron Silver a nice long test run and every benefit of the doubt, but needless to say I will not be purchasing again. ]]> Sun, 06 Mar 2011 20:02:27 +0000 <![CDATA[Patron Tequila Silver: ]]> https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/blancos/discussions/review.html?id=1720 https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/blancos/discussions/review.html?id=1720 I honestly can not understand the big deal about patron silver,( or really any Patron), this has to be the most overrated tequila Ive tried ]]> Sat, 30 Oct 2010 20:29:58 +0000 <![CDATA[Patron Tequila Silver: ]]> https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/blancos/discussions/review.html?id=1001 https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/blancos/discussions/review.html?id=1001 I've mentioned this in my other Patron reviews - I think the brand receives lower marks because of the popularity/hype associated with it. I like the presentation of their line - very distinct, yet not overdone; classy, but not pretentious. There is an alcohol presence to the aroma as there often is with a silver. The agave is present, but I wish it was a bit more evident. There are slight floral and earthy tones as well, but neither very distinct. While the finish isn't overly dramatic this often leaves my mouth a bit numb for a while - sometimes I can even feel it the next day. This isn't an incredibly complex drink, but more on the crisp, light and easily enjoyable side. I most recently purchased this with a bottle of Corazon blanco and felt like this one was slightly more pleasurable to drink. If you're going to mix a high-end tequila, or if you prefer silvers, I would recommend this. But if you're just looking to sip a great tequila I'd go with an anejo any day. ]]> Thu, 22 Jan 2009 00:46:12 +0000 <![CDATA[Patron Tequila Silver: ]]> https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/blancos/discussions/review.html?id=678 https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/blancos/discussions/review.html?id=678 Tasted on 07/05/08 out of Double ball glass. I don't feel let down, yet I wasn't WOWED either. I definitely don't see myself buying a bottle of this. As a matter of fact, I was 'forced' into drinking this because it was the ONLY tequila they had at the bar I was at. Aroma: A bit difficult to detect. On the subtle side definitely. Hints of earth and agave. Initial taste: A thin mouth feel, on the tip of the tongue there was slight bitterness. Body: A subtle body of agave, earth, and spices. I like my bodies to be bolder. Finish: Of short duration, with no alcohol burn. ]]> Mon, 07 Jul 2008 14:02:13 +0000 <![CDATA[Patron Tequila Silver: ]]> https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/blancos/discussions/review.html?id=613 https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/blancos/discussions/review.html?id=613 In my opinion Patron Silver is highly overrated. I find the flavor to be mediocre. It hasn't been a smooth drink for me and it kind of left me with a bad after taste. Because of the Patron name it has gotten a lot of hype. However, from what I've seen the majority of the people drinking it are either drunk college girls or guys trying to show off their wallets... All and all I feel that for the money there are much better tequilas out there. ]]> Thu, 22 May 2008 07:04:32 +0000 <![CDATA[Patron Tequila Silver: ]]> https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/blancos/discussions/review.html?id=599 https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/blancos/discussions/review.html?id=599 Patron Silver Tequila, NOM 1492. I enjoyed this crystal clear spirit in a small Cognac snifter where it released a clean, earthy agave nose accompanied with light alcohol. It initially had a hot, peppery taste but softened into flavors of agave, sweet citrus & spice. This light bodied tequila soon opened up with more hints of alcohol, spice & a sweet aftertaste that followed all the way through a medium duration finish. There was also an open sensation due in part to the alcohol which was present through the entire tasting. I thought this tequila could be smoother considering the Patron name & the price. Patron Silver Color: clear Aroma: agave Taste: clay with ground black pepper and light on the tongue with help from the ice finishing with a blanco burn For blancos I would much rather drink either the Chinaco, Corralejo or the Milagro. My current top three blanco picks as of the writing of this review. On this date I tried this tequila at the Davis Graduate Tequila Bar using a snifter. This tequila is clear in color and has intense floral and earthy aromas with moderate fruit and spice. There are also hints of smoke to this silver tequila. A mellow taste on the tongue leads to a sweet entry with mild bitterness. The Patron Silver flavor contains intense earthy and floral flavors and moderate to intense agave. The tequila also has mild intensities of fruit and spice followed by a small amount of alcohol bite to the finish. Patron Silver finishes with a medium to long duration of flavor and a numbing alcohol feeling. This tequila has been awarded the overall rating of 87/88 points out of 100. ]]> Mon, 24 Mar 2008 13:15:25 +0000 <![CDATA[Patron Tequila Silver: ]]> https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/blancos/discussions/review.html?id=357 https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/blancos/discussions/review.html?id=357 Patron Silver is one of my favorites. I did this tasting side by side with a new bottle of El Tesoro (older white label) and liked it just as well. There were distinct differences but not one better that the other. The Patron was lighter and sweeter with a medium intensity, lighter body and bright agave nose. It has more of a grass/herb character, zero wood, with a simple but fairly strong to complex taste and not too much burn going down from a balanced alcohol finish. I asked myself which one I wanted more of after the tasting and it was the Patron. ]]> Sat, 06 Oct 2007 22:17:39 +0000
