There is some sweet cooked agave in there, but I mainly get yeast - bread...maybe sourdough. It's really like nothing else, so hard for me to compare. Once it hits your mouth, the typical Cuervo taste kicks in - more yeast with some sweetness, but I'm not a fan. Again, it's hard to compare this; it's not that this is awful, but I just don't care for the JC taste. Moving on, actually a nice velvety body with this platino, and a nice, mild mouth-numbing. Overall, a very above-average body. Hard to rate the finish here; on the one hand, it is smooth with a medium-to-long duration of good quality; on the other hand, it has the classic Cuervo taste and lingering.

This is really tough to measure for overall enjoyability. My scores jumped around a lot. It has a nice body and a decent finish from a physical aspect, but the JC taste is not my thing. Price really fails on this product. It has an ultra-premium price wherever you find it, and it simply is not worth it. If you can find it at a 'bargain' of, say, $40 or less, it might be worth having in your collection, but not as a go-to blanco. A very elegant bottle normally packaged in a nice wooden box. The label is colorful and artful.

I've never been a big Cuervo fan, considering it for the most part a cheap shooter/mixer. I was utterly and pleasantly amazed by the flavor and smoothness of this product. It is as good in its own way as many reposados and some anejos. I'll be adding this to my collection and would encourage anyone who appreciates fine things to do so as well. VERY good indeed.

Aroma: Simple agave and maybe a bit of earth and spice.
Initial Taste: Clean, light agave and a touch of bitterness that I didn't like that much.
Body: Thin, but the agave comes through a bit more.
Finish: A bit of burn and it doesn't stay with you.

If you bought it, you'll enjoy it and enjoy the bottle. From a value perspective, you can just flat out do better. It will look great on a shelf though.

The first tequila I ever drank was Cuervo gold, and I'm sure this is the case with most everybody reading this, and like it or not, the Cuervo name has a certain mystique.
But alas, times have changed and we have all moved on to better things. This Cuervo Platino is certainly a better thing. This is a nice tequila. Smooth, flavorful, and with one of the best bouquets of any spirit I've had recently. I smell it and I just want it.
Overall, this is a smooth, tasty, agave laden tequila that shines with the best of them. Highly recommended.

Jose Cuervo Platino Reserva de la Familia

Color: clear
Aroma: agave & the smell of the ice
Taste: light on the tongue with the taste of wet cement thoughout finishing with very little burn

This is a blanco that I felt is all name and over priced. I will not try again without the ice to see if the taste changes as other blanco have cut thru the ice with great flavors. I favor the blancos of Chinaco, Corralejo and Milagro. My current top three blanco picks as of the writing of this review.

In my humble opinion, a bit overpriced. But is it a great blanco? Id have to say yes, but it doesnt break into my top five.

Aroma: Nice hints floral and earth
Initial taste: Slightly bitter but very tasty
Body: intense flavors of agave and earth
Finish and duration: A bit of a short numbing finish for me.

I tried this tequila at the Davis Graduate Tequila Bar and tasted it in a snifter glass. This bottle comes with a wooden box. With clear color, this tequila has intense aromas of floral and earth. Other aromas include moderate spice and smoke with mild fruit accents. The tequila has a thin mouth feel and on the first sip is sweet with mild bitterness. Intense flavors of agave, earth, and smoke are followed by moderate notes of spice, chemicals, and floral flavors. With a medium duration of flavor this tequila finishes with a numbing finish. Jose Cuervo Reserva de la Familia Platino 2007 has received the rating of 86 points out of 100.

I purchased the bottle at a price of 54.99 and tasted out of a riedel glass. The presentation was beautiful in a wooden box and the labeling was nice as well. As for the taste, the initial taste is very solid and a well-noted Agave flavor. I could taste the hints of vanilla in the beginning followed by a very smooth finish without much bite. The overall price vs. quanity is exceptional. I liked this purchase very much.

This super-premium has elevated my view of the brand. Having said that I still found it to be a "middle of the road" super-premium. The nose is not aggressive with a slight alcohol burn but distinct agave notes. The initial taste is fairly smooth but the flavors don't arrive until you reach the body which draws vanilla, citrus, and pepper out. The finish is smooth and pepper with a slight bitterness. I actually wasn't all that impressed with the bottle presentation though. It's a decent tequila but not one that I am completely fired up over.

I am very impressed. I favor blancos and this really blew me away. No surprises here but what you get is one of the best sipping tequilas you can ask for.The taste of agave is pleasant with an even more pleasant finish. No over peppery or limey flavors to offset the taste and no numbing on the finish. Please try it if you can find some you won't regret it.

If you have a serious lust for agave, this one will not disappoint. The agave flavor is rich and full, sweet but not cloying. The finish is peppery with a nice zing to it. The smoothness is excellent. The presentation is beautiful. It was a very, very pleasant surprise to taste. I will definitely be stocking this one in my personal bar regularly!
