Cabrito makes the claim of being the #1 selling 100% agave tequila in Mexico, so that has got to be a positive thing, right? One thing that it has going for it is that it comes from NOM 1140 (Tequila Centinela)...and that it can be found locally for $14 for a liter. Price: $15-25/bottle (1 liter) Aroma: Basic cooked agave with hints of earth and pepper Initial Taste: A nice entry of agave with earthy notes. Very basic, but clean. Body: A nice and oily body for the price and a nice silky mouth feel. The peppery kick comes in a bit in the body and is well balanced with the agave sweetness. Finish: It has a pleasant agave filled linger with a bit of sweet heat. Not at all overly smoothed out. The flavor is still there and it's a nice finish. Is this the most complex blanco out there? Nope. Does it have a full agave flavor and a nice kick and linger? Yes. This has really nice flavor for under $20 per liter. Enough agave to be sipped neat and the right kind of flavor profile to make a nice cocktail. Check out my review for the reposado...which is simply tremendous value for the money. All in all, Cabrito is a winner and a great value for starters or aficionados. For the price, it's definitely worth checking out. ]]> Fri, 02 Aug 2013 02:53:57 +0000 <![CDATA[Cabrito Tequila Blanco: ]]> https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/blancos/discussions/review.html?id=2116 https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/blancos/discussions/review.html?id=2116 Just for cocktails (let's be ralist blancos are for cocktails, just few blancos can be tasted raw without mixers). To taste it raw this one is as many blancos strong (but not the strongest) with marked alcohol taste, is cheap and could be a grat deal if you want to get drunk with cocktails at low price. Not all is bad, the agave taste at finish is good but it's not too long, Centinela House has better tequilas. ]]> Sat, 05 Nov 2011 23:41:49 +0000 <![CDATA[Cabrito Tequila Blanco: ]]> https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/blancos/discussions/review.html?id=1473 https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/blancos/discussions/review.html?id=1473 This is my first review, so bear with me. I tried the Cabrito blanco at home out of my favorite tequila glass, a trumpet mouthed piece of stemware that holds about 1.5 oz. This is my first Centinela (NOM 1140) product, and I've heard good things about them. I wasn't disappointed. The aroma is somewhat intense and fruity, very appealing. A good nose is everything, IMO. The initial taste was quite smooth with some real agave punch, reminiscent of Chinaco. It is a little thin in the mouth, but not disappointingly so. If this tequila has a weak point, I would say it's the finish, which is short with a little pepper on it. The aftertaste is not unpleasant to me at all. The bottle looks like it might contain cheap juice, but at $30 for a 1 liter bottle, this one is number one in my book for price to quality. ]]> Thu, 08 Apr 2010 03:43:28 +0000 <![CDATA[Cabrito Tequila Blanco: ]]> https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/blancos/discussions/review.html?id=910 https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/blancos/discussions/review.html?id=910 Tasted in and with everything and on it's own over several days, weeks... Cabrito Blanco Color: clear Aroma: agave Taste: light to medium on the tongue with the taste of agave, clay & slight licorice with a burn of a finish If I need a blanco for cocktails this is the one as it is great tasting and you get twice as much for the price of a mid shelf blanco. Cabrito is my recession Tequila. Though when I receive my tax payer bail out I will spend it on my blanco favorites Chinaco, Siete Leguas, El Tesoro, Corralejo and Milagro. For presentation I am not a fan of the screwtop bottle or the sticker label. ]]> Thu, 04 Dec 2008 00:37:02 +0000
