I do notice the slow legs on this one. Aroma: A fruity and vanilla scent. Initial Taste: A slightly heated entry( in a nice way) Initial taste is vanilla and cooked agave. Body: Same as initial taste. Solid vanilla and cooked agave. Finish: A slightly heated finish with a lingering of cooked agave. I'd almost go far as to say it tastes more like a reposado. In any case its a very tasty anejo and I would buy a bottle of this again. ]]> Sat, 23 Sep 2017 22:31:10 +0000 <![CDATA[Suerte Tequila Anejo: Suerte Anejo]]> https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=2973 https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=2973 Light golden color, hugs the glass well with slow legs. Sweet agave with a light fruit scent, light alcohol on the nose as well. Initial taste is light fruit, slight alcohol tinge which increases the more you drink, but never becomes overpowering. I found the mouthfeel to be a bit thin, but overall an enjoyable Tequila. The Anejo runs $60+ in my area of CO, which I consider to be on the high side. It is a good Tequila, but I have others I enjoy more for the same price or less. ]]> Sun, 21 Jul 2013 18:42:21 +0000 <![CDATA[Suerte Tequila Anejo: Another Good Effort from Suerte]]> https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=2928 https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=2928 This is my last review of the Suerte line from NOM 1530 that has largely impressed me up to this point. Like the other expressions from this line, the bottle is striking, but so is the amber color of this 24 month aged anejo. I have high expectations for this one given the quality of the reposado. Price: $55-65/bottle Aroma: Cooked agave, honey, fruit and light spice Initial Taste: Cooked agave, vanilla, fruit (cherries) and some mint/pine notes. Body: A nice balance of agave, vanilla, light mint and wood notes. Medium bodied with nice oils. Finish: A medium length finish with nice balance. Notes of oak, agave and vanilla linger. Tasty, but I wish it lasted just a little bit longer to savor all of the flavors. Suerte Anejo is a really well crafted and balanced sipping tequila. While I prefer the reposado from this line, this is a really good anejo to sit back and sip after dinner or as a night cap. Lots of flavor, wonderful smoothness and a great overall profile. As stated in other reviews, the craftsmanship from this line is evident from the use of tahona in the blanco to the splendid balance of the repo to the rich smoothness of the anejo. If you are looking for a well priced brand to do a vertical tasting (especially on your long July 4 weekend), Suerte is a prime candidate if you can find it in your area. ]]> Tue, 25 Jun 2013 16:14:49 +0000 <![CDATA[Suerte Tequila Anejo: Suerte Tequila Anejo]]> https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=2890 https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=2890 This is a new tequila (May, 2013) that is just starting to make the rounds across the US. On a recent trip to Manhattan, I had the opportunity to purchase all three expressions - I choose the anejo. It was considerably more than the reposado, coming in around $74 compared to $44. My friend, Phil, bought the reposado. We trade off like this frequently so we can taste as many different tequilas as possible without having to buy every bottle. Then, if a tequila proves worthy - we bite the bullet and buy a bottle for ourselves. In the case of Suerte, all three bottles are the same except for the color of the rabbit design on the bottle. Nice strong tequila-pouring bottle shape - classic in every way. Suerte means "luck" so the rabbit motif makes perfect sense. This anejo is aged for two years in American oak Bourbon barrels. I expected a darker product but the color is rather golden. Suerte anejo is also sweet but a lot more complex. There are many notes but, for me, they are a bit hard to differentiate. In a Riedel glass, this tequila has nice legs, but thin - not thick. The product does not coat the mouth like many tequilas. The nose is rather light with mainly wood, but, perhaps, some honey and fruity undercurrents. Mouth feel or body is only slightly alcoholic which is a plus for me. The initial taste seems complex but most tequilas that start this way build in subsequent swallows - with certain elements eventually overriding others. I did not experience this phenomenon with Suerte Anejo. The flavor did not build and the alcohol level remained consistent. For me personally, I believe my lack of enthusiasm stems from the use of bourbon barrels - since I really dislike the taste of bourbon. My guess is I will like the reposado version better since it has less contact with the barrels. In fact, the real test may be tasting the blanco. For me, the finish of this anejo was less than exciting; good - just not what I was expecting. ]]> Fri, 31 May 2013 07:17:26 +0000
