Great value in this anejo. I paid around 30$ on one of my last visits to the US. The nose is a great blend of skinned fruit with apricot and peach notes and just a touch of caramel. The initial taste yields the same peachy flavours with a hint of caramel and a touch of pepper yet really on the sweet side(almost to the point that I wondered if they had added agave nectar). This would be a great tequila to use as an introduction for non tequila drinkers. The body is reasonably full and the finish is of decent length. Overall for the price this is highly enjoyable (its kept me from tapping into about 6 un-opened bottles) Price is exceptional for the product. The only flaw is that the presentation is too similar to Don Julio's line and rather plain, yet for the price I guess it would be hard to expect too much more. ]]> Thu, 15 Sep 2011 04:43:05 +0000 <![CDATA[La Cava de Don Agustin Tequila Anejo: ]]> https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=967 https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=967 Tasted out of a snifter on 01/06/09 at home. Purchased a bottle for $28 bux. In these tough times, I'm always on the look out for the best buys I can find. $28 bux is a good darn price for an anejo. I liked this anejo more than their reposado, but for me, the differences were not as 'contrasty' as I would have thought there would be between a repo and an anejo from the same line. Still, a good showing. I've always thought Don Agustin to be a consistent line. Aroma: Very pleasant nose of honey, fruit (berry), and caramel. Initial Taste: An oily mouth feel, upon entry it's sweet with no bitterness. My initial taste was honey. A first for me. Body: An oaky agave body, with lighter hints of fruit (berry again), and smoke. Not too complex, but it works! Finish: An unheated, semi sweet finish of short duration. Not something I usually get! ]]> Tue, 06 Jan 2009 16:35:48 +0000 <![CDATA[La Cava de Don Agustin Tequila Anejo: ]]> https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=908 https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=908 This anejo has remnants of both the blanco and reposado. I drank side-by-side against the Don Augustin reposado. The nose is more pronounced than the reposado. The aroma is mild fruit and reminded me of a box of raisons. The tequila was oily and had a smoky, cedar-like initial taste with faint sweetness and a slightly bitter finish. Overall, good but not spectacular. My favorite anejos are Don Julio 1942 and Don Julio. I've also tried Pueblo Viejo Orgullo, Corzo, and Herradura. I like this better than the reposado. Not bad for around $26. ]]> Wed, 03 Dec 2008 19:41:52 +0000
