It's a very good tequila. Aroma: Great agave smell with some woody and caramel notes. Initial Taste: Agave taste with plenty of wood and spice notes. Body: Thick mouth feel with a nice smooth flavor throughout. Finish: Pleasant finish and burn with the aging really coming through. Let's be honest...this is a very good tequila. It's not in my top 10, but I enjoy it every time that I have it. However, at $100+, I need to enjoy it more for it to be worth the price. There's tequilas at half the price that I enjoy more. It's always nice to have the box and bottle on the shelf, but if I'm making recommendations to people with cost being a consideration, this isn't one that I tell people to rush out and buy. ]]> Sun, 22 Jan 2012 06:24:43 +0000 <![CDATA[Jose Cuervo Reserva de la Familia Anejo: ]]> https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=2188 https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=2188 Very good tequila. Dark, with very good body, tastes variety of flavours like caramel, oak and a little "toasted sensation". The only bad detail is the price, it's a very good tequila but for sure there are other tequilas "añejos or extra añejos" that can give this one a very tight match at a very lower price (comparing with this one). The over price affects the enjoyability because you expect a divine elixir for the price you're paying and finally you see that it is just a very good tequila but nothing extremely amazing. Is an excellent tequila that makes you bright in a good dinner, because it is a very good tequila and even more because everyone will know what is the price of the bottle. ]]> Mon, 26 Dec 2011 23:24:53 +0000 <![CDATA[Jose Cuervo Reserva de la Familia Anejo: ]]> https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=2113 https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=2113 Carameled and Woody tasting, nice long final, very good aroma but over priced (not excesively over priced but you have the sense that you can have some a little bit better for the price) to me, even in México you can find tequilas "artesanales añejos" that costs a third part or half of this one, of course the knowing that you paid a lot and is not the very best tequila affects the enjoyability. ]]> Sat, 05 Nov 2011 23:02:47 +0000 <![CDATA[Jose Cuervo Reserva de la Familia Anejo: ]]> https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=2010 https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=2010 As a Long time Scotch drinker and new Tequila fan I would describe this as an exceptional spirit. I enjoyed the deep vanilla flavor from the oak aging and found it to have a smooth Carmel mouth feel. I understand that to many people this lacks the strong agave flavor they desire, but to a whiskey drinker like me this has the drinkability of a fine 18 year old scotch from Speyside. ]]> Tue, 02 Aug 2011 23:55:09 +0000 <![CDATA[Jose Cuervo Reserva de la Familia Anejo: ]]> https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=1743 https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=1743 This is a very enjoyable anejo. This dark and aromatic tequila must be enjoyed in a snifter. I enjoy the aromas as much as the flavor. The price is high but do not expect the best anejo. Do not set your expectations based on price and you will be very happy with this tequila. ]]> Thu, 25 Nov 2010 02:46:14 +0000 <![CDATA[Jose Cuervo Reserva de la Familia Anejo: ]]> https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=1599 https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=1599 I love anejo, but this one I can do with out,its just so over priced that it really should of tasted better, I mean its not bad ,but come on jose ]]> Sun, 04 Jul 2010 22:45:46 +0000 <![CDATA[Jose Cuervo Reserva de la Familia Anejo: ]]> https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=1552 https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=1552 Cannot believe the haters on this wonderful anejo. I have been collecting these for years and enjoy this smooth anejo either smooth or with a rock. It is pricey but compared to several other higher priced anejos you cannot beat it. I am a former scothch drinker so I do prefer the more aged oaky flavors than maybe some who don't like this one. ]]> Thu, 03 Jun 2010 20:50:35 +0000 <![CDATA[Jose Cuervo Reserva de la Familia Anejo: ]]> https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=1165 https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=1165 Tasted out of a snifter, this anejo doesnt live up to the hype I came to see surrounding it. Yes, its very good, but for the money, there's better anejos out there IMHO. I don't think Ill be seeking this one out there again. Aroma: A soft caramel nose, with slighter notes of floral. Initial taste: A semi oily mouth feel, with a sweet entry and initial taste of cooked 'Cuervo' agave. Body: A bold 'Cuervo' agave body, with slight caramel and slight smoke. Finish: A slightly heated finish of short duration, with a cooked agave aftertaste. Like I said, its a very good anejo, but it just doesn't taste like anything so special that id pay $90a bottle for it. ]]> Tue, 09 Jun 2009 19:30:21 +0000 <![CDATA[Jose Cuervo Reserva de la Familia Anejo: ]]> https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=1081 https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=1081 In all honesty I hate this tequila and would never drink it again after this bottle is gone. In fact, I'm saving it to give to guests (that I don't really like that much). Several reviewers said they were hesitant to try this because of the Cuervo name, but that made me want to try it more actually. I don't have much respect for Cuervo as an actual tequila, but it's what really intrigued me to discover 100% agave tequila in the first place so it has a special place in my heart. Despite the sentiment, the bottle I have just tastes bad - plain and simple, it's not good at all. Sure, you can tell it's made from high quality agave, but in terms of a good anejo it just doesn't make the cut IMHO. The nose is very astringent and strong with very subtle hints of vanilla and spice. The flavor overall is just very earthy. That's about the only word I can use describe the overall flavor - the earthy/soily/dirty flavor is overpowering and consumes the palate. There are, in all fairness, subtle notes of wood, spice, and carmel present, but not enough to compensate for the earthy and gritty flavors. I admit I may have a bad batch. If that's the case I must have a very bad batch. I hope that is the case and this is better than what I've had. I realize this is a terrible review - the worst I've given actually - and I'm out on a limb according to the other reviewers, but I have to be honest, and these are my thoughts. Anyway, if you're looking to drop $100 or so on an anejo or El Tesoro Paradiso online or a 1.75 liter bottle of Patron or Don Julio anejo. Any of those would be a much better value than this. I must say, however, that I was very impressed with the presentation of this - nice wax seal, beautifully painted box, and a nice cork. Just too bad that doesn't make up for the bad flavor. ]]> Sat, 11 Apr 2009 20:26:40 +0000 <![CDATA[Jose Cuervo Reserva de la Familia Anejo: ]]> https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=1018 https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=1018 This is a sipping tequila, smooth and tasty, but I think it's price will stop most people from trying it, but do yourself a favor and sip slowly and enjoy. ]]> Tue, 03 Feb 2009 16:04:52 +0000 <![CDATA[Jose Cuervo Reserva de la Familia Anejo: ]]> https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=486 https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=486 It was a pretty good tequila. The tequila is golden brown in color and has intense earth, caramel, and floral aromas. Once you get past the intensity of the nose, you can smell moderate notes of vanilla and spice. On the tip of the tongue the tequila is mellow and soft, while feeling oily in the mouth. While the tequila is sweet, it is actually has low amount of bitterness. Now onto flavor. The flavor has intense floral and chemical attributes which are followed by moderate fruit, agave, and earth. The tequila also has mild vanilla and caramel. The tequilas finish is a medium-to-long duration of flavor followed by a slightly numbing and tingly alcohol feeling. Overall, I rated this tequila at the B+ level. ]]> Tue, 29 May 2007 04:34:13 +0000 <![CDATA[Jose Cuervo Reserva de la Familia Anejo: ]]> https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=41 https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=41 I recieved this tequila as a gift in March'06, finally opened it on Christmas'06. I was a little leary seeing the Cuervo name but after one sip all that disappeared. It has a peculiar nose and a very strong vanilla scent. You can taste the agave but also the oak, I know it's strange but they seem to have it balanced perfectly.
