Initial Taste: Fairly mild. Much more peppery and earthy than most anejos. Body: Thin body for an anejo. However the tastes are varied. A ton of spice in this tequila. Lots of wood flavors come through as well to compliment a very strong pepper kick of an anejo. Finish: A nice long, lingering finish that is heavy on pepper & spice. No alcohol burn...just nice sizzle. For those who love the syrupy and sweet anejos, this probably won't be your cup of tea. For those who love the spice of a blanco, but the smoothness and wood flavor of an anejo as well, this is in your wheel house. A very nice effort from Cesar Monterrey. For those bargain hunters, I purchased this for $29.99 at Mission. Quite a steal when compared to other places. Very nice hand blown, frosted bottle with cork stopper as well. ]]> Wed, 11 Apr 2012 03:22:02 +0000 <![CDATA[Cesar Monterrey Tequila Anejo Reserva: ]]> https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=1056 https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=1056 My girlfriend and I found this bottle in a new liquor store in Pocomoke City, Maryland. It was reduced in price because it was the last bottle (It was still almost $60). We expected a lot from the tequila based merely on the presentation and price. It was a hand-blown bottle with a cork attached to a stone top. Everything about this tequila is top-notch. The initial taste is full and rich with hints of virtually everything you can imagine - so - very complex. Not too smooth, it reminded me of Herradura Seleccion Suprema, but cheaper. She found it a bit strong in the finish.I would drink this all day long with Sangrita as a chaser. ]]> Wed, 11 Mar 2009 03:36:09 +0000 <![CDATA[Cesar Monterrey Tequila Anejo Reserva: ]]> https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=480 https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=480 What a truly fine spirit this is. It is my current favorite anejo. Riedel tequila glasses are made for this this kind of quality spirit, with its sweet, organic aroma. Initial taste is acutely spicey and rich, with honeyed agave dominating at midpalate. It's smooth on the finish, leaving a sweet, spicey, agave taste that lingers and makes you (well, at least me) look forward to the next glass. Wine Enthusiast rates this as one of its 50 Best Spirits of 2006 (not just among tequilas, but all spirits) and it's easy to taste why. I only wish that this tequila was a little easier to find. ]]> Sun, 24 Feb 2008 09:45:25 +0000
